“the best location in europe?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2010

This is a special place. Old fashioned, family run, friendly, helpful - nothing too much trouble. Certainly not grand, but comfortable and relaxed. Our fifth visit and just as memorable each time.
Sitting out for breakfast or a glass of wine on the terrace with Lake Como below and all around and the snow capped mountains right up to the Alps stretching away on every side - is literally breathtaking.
On the hill a mile or two behind Bellagio - hence the stunning position - but with a hotel shuttle to and from the town, you have the best of both worlds.

Wonderful place in a gorgeous, lovely little village. The hotel has a fantastic outlook, and the top room had almost 270 degree views of the majestic, snow capped mountains, tranquil soft lake and the village a few kilometres down the road - just stunning. We felt that if we hadn't had a car it would have been somewhat difficult to get to the town and back, although not impossible. The room was spacious and clean, but we felt that we could have had more regular heating, as it was still quite cold at the time we were there. Warning - don't bother with the 'room service'. They didn't have most of the dishes listed and the food itself was not very interesting.

After reading the few negative reviews on this B&B and then staying there, I would have to say that the negative reviewers have not travelled extensively in Europe for affordable prices. The host was very welcoming and gave us advice on places to eat and park. The rooms had spectacular views and the breakfast was a standard Italian breakfast. Nothing was lacking during our stay. The owner was kind without being overwhelming. I will recommend this to all of my friends when they travel to Lake Como. A great B&B!

View is spectacular but nothing else. Mediocre room. Worn out mattress. Smelly, mildewy blankets. Bathroom lacked proper ventilation. Transportation to and from town inadequate. Breakfast stingy - never enough food prepared to accomodate all the guests. Charged for coffee from a machine, Charged for tiny tray of ice cubes. Bar service inadequate. With these deficiencies, room rates should have been half the price. Hotel isn't within walking distance to any attractions, stores or restaurants. In 20 years of travel to Italy this is the most dissapointing B&B we've stayed in.

My parents and I stayed here 3 nights and it was a very positive experience. Our room had amazing views of Lake Como and overlooking the center of Bellagio down the hill. It was easy to get to the center of town and take the ferry anywhere you would like on Lake Como. We even took a day trip to Switzerland that was about an hour away. The breakfast was very good.

The view was as spectacular as in the photos, or even more. The hotel was small and cosy, even though the rooms were a bit outdated. The breakfast was ok, nothing spectacular but you could get your day started on the beautiful terrace looking at the spectacular view. If you wanted to eat at the hotel at night, you could ask for it in advance. The food was very good plain Italian food and there was more than enough to eat! The hotel is a bit far from the city, so I would recommend a car. It wasn't easy to go out to eat at night either or go and rest at the hotel during the day. So we usually were out all day long and came back at night to eat at the hotel or had dinner before coming to the hotel. Bellagio and Lake Como is such a beautiful place and there is a lot to see. I loved the villas in Bellagio, Varenna, Menaggio.. I would recommend this hotel if you want a small cosy hotel and great views farther from the city at a good price but don't need luxury.

We drove the "back way" from Milan from the Lecco side up to Bellagio, and though it was not for the faint of heart (winding and narrow road) it was an adventure and unforgettable journey. When we arrived, we were met by Singora Sancassano and her young grand daughter. Our room was in the main part of the B & B (note- this IS a B & B, NOT a luxury/boutique hotel), on the second floor. We came in the day after the Giro di Lombaria, so we missed the festivities, but we were fortunate enough to still get the special rate they were promoting.
The hotel is about a 20-30 minute walk from the main part of town, but they offer a shuttle. From there, the ferry boats go to the equally charming towns across the river. (We went to Lenno).
Only regret is we only stayed 1 night. We will definitely return and recommend this inn to friends and family.
You just cannot beat the view.
