“Great Hotel - ideal location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2009

Just back from our holiday which included a 5 night stay at the Hotel Centrale. It lived up to all our expectations and the Owners are great and can help you with any questions you may have. It is nice that they focus on the customer so much as this isn't always the case these days.

The location could not be better, close to the ferry piers and in the center of all the shops, bars and restaurants. When we arrived by car, we tried to enter the old part of the town but were blocked by a barrier. Eventually we parked and walked to the hotel. They gave us directions and the barrier code which allowed us to get the car reasonably close to to the hotel so we could unload our cases. I then managed to get free parking 150m from the hotel which was a real bonus.

We chose a small room at 100€ per night. It was very comfortable and had a balcony overlooking the entrance patio. The room was quiet and the whilst the shower room was small, there was always lots of hot water and a great water pressure in the shower. Breakfast had a varied selection with fresh tea and coffee. The free wirless service was poor in the room, but was fine in the hallway and breakfast room, so I could always get on to my email / internet.

We wanted an affordable place to enjoy Lake Como and fortunately, due to the reviews here, chose Hotel Centrale. Giacomo is very welcoming, the room was cozy, romantic and comfortable. The breakfast room was lovely (coffee was brilliant!). Our oh too short stay in Bellagio was pure magic ! We visited other locations around the lake by ferry but Bellagio was the most romantic! Plenty of choices for lovely food on the lake and yet the rooms were very quiet. The location was ideal with a 2 minute walk to the ferry station. Lake Como is exquisite and Hotel Cetrale was a lovely place to come back to after a perfect day and evening spent enjoying it.

We arrived quite late in the evening to find a very friendly reception and welcome.

We were offered a choice of rooms which we could view first (a very nice touch) and settled on a room with a balcony. The room was nice, elegant I guess you'd describe it as.
The breakfast was yummy and throughout our stay the service was excellent and help was given at every turn.

The only gripe I would have is that we booked in advance and were quoted a rate, but when we went to check out we were told a price that was 20 euros more (which isn't a lot). However on showing the booking printout confirming the earlier price, there was no problem from the staff in honouring it.

There is a wine bar on the same street as the hotel which was a bit rubbish (although good meats given for free), but there is a wine bar a few streets over (next to the wall with the famous people pictures - you'll know what i mean if you go there), where the service is excellent and the wines are fantastic.

I join the other reviewers in their praise of the hotel and its management. Both my husband and I were delighted. Giacomo, Silvana, Michele and Marcello are a beautiful family who made our stay at the hotel our best travel experience.

Just wanted to add to the great reviews Hotel Centrale deserves. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. Great location and room. Lovely garden. Plus, the nicest staff who went out of their way to take care of our needs.

Precious hotel halfway up one of the pedestrian "steps/streets" of Bellagio. We travel light so it was easy to get our luggage to the hotel. The location made us feel like we actually lived there. Had a neighborhood feel with clean, cozy rooms. Breakfast was very good. Owner is friendly and welcoming.

Service was faultless and very friendly. The family made us feel very much at home from the moment we arrived to the breakfast tray they prepared for us on our departure date (because we were leaving before the dining room opened for breakfast. The room was simple & clean and more than adequate for our needs. Internet (wired in the room, wireless downstairs) at no charge was an added bonus. Truly "Centrale" to the entire village, 2 minutes from the ferry dock and within easy reach of the restaurants and shops.
