“Place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2013

Last week I and my husband stayed in Bellagio in Silvio hotel . We enjoyed being there. We were very impressed with the staff.Especially Sabrina and Monica. The view from the room was incrediable (I recommend lake view rooms). we used the hotel's restaurant twice and it was good. we chose the hotel through tripadvisor's comment we are glad we did this way. We didnt have car so we walked to the town everyday. The walk was 15 min but not easy without pavement. I would say it was the only down side of the hotel. There is a park you can walk from there to the town but you have to pay and at nights it is not open. We bought tickets for 2 days instate of 8 we paid 6 euro.Breakfast was good but I wish they had better bread and varriety of cheese. We would definetly go back to this hotel if we decide another holiday in the same area

Pros:
clean, new, spacious, high ceilings
kitchenette, fridge, and water filter
large towels
parking available
typical European light breakfast option was good quality, they have an orange juicer, you have to boil your own eggs
dependable wifi
Mostly friendly employees
near garden attraction
They give you entrance tickets for the beach terrace down the street

Cons:
Not located in town center. Shuttle service was not offered to us. bus service is every 20min. buy bus ticket at bar sanremo in town center (not easy to find) 1.5euro/person
The walk up to the hotel from the ferry dock is at least 15min, no sidewalk, can be difficult with luggage and at night.
The front desk is staffed by one person who also does the shuttle runs into town upon request. After finding out about the shuttle the day before check out (too late) we requested transport with our luggage to the ferry dock in town. The staff was impatient and seemed inconvienced for having to leave the check in desk. This hotel would be wise to provide a manned shuttle service into town every half hr. It would make the location worth it.
If you are staying at their apartments you check in at the hotel and walk another 5-10 min
AC did not work in one of our apartments
Walls are thin, can hear neighbors and anyone walking up the stairs.
Could not dial outside
No "do not disturb sign on door"
Towels were thin and not soft, bed seemed firm for us, pillow flat (common in Europe)
No additional food options nearby (go to town center or eat at their upscale restaurant 3euro/person cover charge).

It is more time effective to stay in town if you are not traveling by car but it will be difficult to find this value 135-145/night.

Room Tip: Stay in varenna instead if you are visiting lake como to sightsee = less ferry trips. Varenna is the...

Dear Guests,

thank you for your review about your stay in our Depandance Villa La Colombina.
Regarding your our shuttle service, we would like to clarify that this is a form of "courtesy car" that we offer free of charge, on request, to Guests who need a pick up from/to the main center to/from their accommodation (distance 1/4 of a mile). It is something different from a taxi service, coming, waiting as long as it is needed and taking you to destination, for which you normally have to pay for; in addition, we promote our free shuttle service on request on every booking confirmation, we are sorry you did not notice that - that would have helped you with a more comfortable arrival.
One of the reasons for which we don't provide a whole-day free shuttle service every half-hour it is because we try to provide the best service possibile, maintaining our accomodation offer wide and yet most of our rates affordable enough in comparison to what Bellagio offers (consider a basic standard room in a 3-star hotel in Bellagio located in the town center costs around 110 Euro for 2 people in high season, that's why we are still proud to offer accommodation at 145 Euro, breakfast included for 4 people in a brand new 35 sq/m room with kitchenette out from the hustle-and-bustle of the center).
We will be most happy to have the opportunity to host you at our waterfront accommodation "Appartamento La Terrazza" in the hearth of Bellagio for your next visit on Lake Como.

Any comment, both positive and negative is although most welcome, allowing us to understand and satisfy more and more our Guests' needs - so thank you very much for your contribution, it is much appreciated.

As soon as you step into reception the welcome is exceptionally friendly the staff couldn't be more helpful,My son forgot his phone charger, they found one and lent it to him for the duration of our stay.
The hotel is with in walking distance of the hotel, we chose to walk trough the gardens of villa melzia ( worth the entrance fee) into the town, but the staff are more than happy to drive you in , and or collect you.
The hotel gives you an entrance pass for the local lido, which is clean and a nice spot to swim in the lake ,they have snacks and drinks ,that are reasonably priced. In the evenings our 18+ children went to the night club there, and said it was really good.
Our rooms were clean ,comfortable and had side glimpses of the lake,we ate in the hotel restaurant , the food was lovely, try there share fish dish ,and there own ice cream, yum!
We chose this hotel as our niece got married in Bellagio, and this hotel is more reasonably priced in this very expensive resort, we thought this hotel very good value for money in this area.
The wedding was at the Villa del Balbianello very beautiful, the reception was held at Salice Blu restaurant, wow they collected us all,(40) took us to the restaurant, the food was excellent ,the salt crusted sea bass was amazing, they finished the wedding cake off in front of us all,Chef Luigi was there making sure everything was perfect ,and it was above perfect. Then drove all 40 of us back to what ever hotel staying at when needed.

Room Tip: Both rooms lovely ,Quiet ,clean beautiful views.Room 6 walk in shower ground floor good for elderly...

The hotel silvio is a beautiful 3 star hotel in Bellagio.

Upon arrival into Bellagio we were collected by the owner and driven to the hotel. This pick up service was on offer throughout the stay but not required. The hotel is a ten minute walk from the downtown area and for the reasonably fit and healthy this should pose no difficulty. You can walk through the gardens for the cost of €6.50 but the road is the easiest and most direct way of doing so. There is no path but the drivers of bellagio and the lakeside towns are well accustomed to people walking on the road and not once did we feel threatened by traffic when walking into downtown, you'll also be rarely walking alone as there are plenty of others doing so. I preferred being away from the centre and it added to the quaint charm of the holiday.

The breakfast at the hotel was just right with a good balance. The room itself was an attic room and although the beams in the ceiling are low it's just adds to the authenticity of it.

As started throughout the reviews the staff were lovely, accommodating and made sure our stay was special. Will have no hesitation in booking this hotel next year.

The hotel is lovely, for its view (amazing), the look, the care for detail. The position is perhaps not the best one: the hotel lies directly on a narrow street where it is not possible to park, thus parking is only possible in the little space in front of the hotel (which does not have a proper garage). The town is at 10 minutes walking distance, but the narrow street mentioned before (with no pavement for pedestrians) is the only way to reach it during the night (better to take the car, as there is some parking space after the "Lido"); during the day it is possible to walk to the town through the Gardens "melzi d'Eril" at a price of 8 euro: a bit expensive, but worth it. In turn, Inside the hotel is an excellent restaurant (apparently one of the best in the area), and quite close (definitely closer to the hotel than to the town) is the only freely accessible lake river, in case you want to swim or sunbathe: on the contrary, the "Lido Silvio", which is the fancy beach belonging to the same owner of the hotel (and accessible at a price to pay) is closer to the town than to the hotel. To sum up: perfect for those who want to relax and plan to have a (romantic and) relaxing experience with little walking: just few steps to the restaurant, and some steps more to the free beach. For any other movement, it is strongly advised to use the car.

Room Tip: If you are interested in the view on the lake, take care that the room has a balcony and that it is...

My husband and I recently stayed at Hotel Silvio and couldn't have been happier with our choice. From the moment we were greeted at the reception by the most wonderful Monica who then showed us to our room which had the most spectacular view. We were blown away!
The hotel and restaurant were always accommodating where we ate in at the restaurant one evening and then had room service another evening (as the view from our balcony was second to none).
Breakfast was excellent as was the coffee.
My parents are now in Bellagio (unfortunately they booked their accommodation before us and are not staying at Silvios) and we wanted to treat them to a really nice dinner and Monica was extremely helpful and arranged it all for me so that we could treat them - they had a wonderful time and thought the food and views were amazing.
The walk through the park is so lovely and well worth it - it is not strenuous at all.
My husband and I will definitely go back to Bellagio and stay at Silvio's again.
Thanks for a wonderful holiday.
