“Great location, average accommodation.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2014

This is a great location and a very quaint hotel. The staff are excellent, but the breakfast is somewhat limited. What was disappointing were the bathrooms ( we were in two rooms after a room change) nowhere to put your toilet bags, no towel rails, a hand held shower in the bath with no shower screen. No tea and coffee making facilities which for the price is a big short coming. In another location this hotel would struggle. You would be very brave to bringa car here.

Room Tip: Don't pay the extra for the shared balcony.

Drive off the car ferry in Bellagio, Italy and you are immediately taken back to a simpler time. The Hotel at the end of the street, Hotel Florence is a wonderful, family owned place with a fabulous view of daily life in this picturesque town. Our third visit was as memorable as the first two. We had a spacious room with a wrap around terrace and well appointed bathroom. While we didn't get room #1, our favorite, with it's claw-footed tub our new room was just as great. The staff, led by family members was very attentive and even provided us with a welcome back bouquet of fresh flowers.
Breakfast in the beautiful dining room was as we remembered it, fantastic!
You must have dinner one night at the hotel restaurant. The vine covered terrace has a romantic view of the lake and with the Alps as a backdrop, life in this corner of the wold could not be better.

Room Tip: Try to get a front facing room with terrace and lake views.

Thanks again, TA reviewers. This was an old fashioned *** hotel, but in a brilliant position, just a few metres from the ferries, and with quite magnificent views of the lake, especially from Room 24 on the third floor, which has a wrap around balcony allowing 270 degree views. Room 24 was big, actually enormous, but its facilities were probably typical of the rest of the hotel: well worn furniture, no fridge, no tea/coffee making facilities, and with big old bath and clunky tap ware, with no separate shower, nor curtain. (This led to inevitable flooding first time around.) But it was all very clean, and cleaned daily and efficiently. Free wifi worked really quite well, with only occasional dropouts. Breakfasts are amply good continental, with attentive and friendly staff replenishing supplies, and coffee is brought almost as soon as you've even sat down. We paid 220 Euros for each of our 5 nights, which would have been expensive for what it was, but the views of the lake made it really good value.

Room Tip: Book early and ask for Room 24!

Stayed here end of May for 5 nights in room #1 (junior suite) with roomy, shared terrace. Super staff, great breakfasts, excellent lake front location with lovely views. Easy walk to ferries & local restaurants. Would definitely stay again!

Okay.... The hotel is old school with lots of ambiance and a very friendly staff. Fantastic breakfast, very clean facilities, and a location and view of the lake that is incredible. The only issue we had was not with the hotel but with a few of the guests, which by the way the hotel staff took care of promptly. Why do my fellow tourists from the U S have to be amongst the worst when traveling abroad?

The hotel is in a great spot, across the street from the lake. Eclectic reception furniture in the lobby work wonderfully together. We had room 4 on the first level, sharing a terrace. This was so nice we spent our time eating appetizers, drinking nice wine while watching the world pass by. I would highly recommend this room if you want extra outdoor space and a place to relax in the afternoon or before going out for dinner.
The room was a good size, nicely appointed, very clean. Staff and service was excellent. A shout out to Timothy who worked the bar and reception in evenings, great person and an excellent addition to the team at Hotel Florence.
The breakfast was the same every morning, we stayed 4 nights, so by the 4th day it was getting tired, and had we spent one more day there I think I would have gone out for breakfast somewhere. The breakfast was average but nothing I would rave about but was good enough. A big improvement for the Hotel would be to change the breakfasts up even slightly everyday.
If we went back to Bellagio I would stay here again.

Room Tip: Room 4 was excellent, had a shared terrace. The extra money we spent on the room probably saved us m...

The little bus from Como left us off at the far end. It would be helpful if a staff member would offer to meet guests so that luggage does not have to be pulled through the main tourist area. We were surprised that the "non-lake view " room had a little balcony and a great view of the water

Since the little bus from Como left us off at the far end, it would be helpful if a staff member could meet guests to help with luggage, so that it does not have to be pulled through the tourist area to the hotel at the other end. Our " non-lake view" room was a surprise because the little balcony had a terrific view of the water ! The included breakfast was wonderful, with eggs, croissants, fruits, ham, and cheeses. Sometimes, we could hear church bells from nearby. One really can't go wrong in choosing to stay here , because of the easy walking distances to shops and the ferry.

The included breakfast was delicious, with eggs, bacon, croissants, cheeses, fruits, and all.

Room Tip: Try to book early enough to get a lake view room , which surely has a spectacular view.
