“Beautiful gardens with lake view”

The views from the gardens across Lake Como were amazing. The gardens were very beautiful and well kept. There was nothing to dislike.

“Great way to spend the afternoon!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2013

Beautiful landscape, quiet and romantic. Take a picnic and a bottle of vino with you :-) The ticket you purchase allows to to come and go as you please which is good if you've forgotten something.

“Nice place in the charming town”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2013

Well, Bellagio is the most well-known town on Como area, and the garden of Melzi villa is the best place you may visit there. The garden is very colorful and rather small; one hour would be enough for a visit. The villa building is closed, only small pavillon is opened, where you find old pictures

“LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

Villa Melzi is a privately owned villa that is NOT open to the public but the extensive gardens are.
We explored on our last morning in Bellagio while we were waiting for our taxi and had an hour to kill. It is located a gentle stroll away from the centre of Bellagio, along the waterfront. I think the entrance fee was about 6.50euro each, which I guess you could say was expensive for visiting a garden, but seems to be about average to visit these properties.
The vills itself ia lovely, a bit austere, not too imaginative.
The gardens are well laid out and well looked after. Not too much to amaze you but it's very pleasant and it's very nice to come here and walk around for an hour or two...but I'd say it's the views that make the place. With Villa Carlotta located on the other side of the lake directly opposit, the views from here are astounding. There is even a small pier where you can walk right to the waters edge and look at all abundant fish swimming in the clear waters of lake Como.
There is a small museum to visit (which we didn't have time to do) and a chapel with the Melzi family tombs. This is a beautiful chapel filled with wonderful art and architecture and wouldn't be out of place in Florence or Rome.
So, do come visit. The walk to and from Bellagio is also gorgeous, walking along the sea front past pink trees...I'm really looking forward to returning here some day.
