“Nice place for groups”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2014 via mobile

You can experience a great view from this restaurant and a good polenta. It's a very popular place and sometimes quality depends from the number of people inside. I suggest to ask a table in the upper floor and not in the basement.

“Good country fare”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2014

An interesting place. Not at all fancy, but good Italian country style food. The salume plate consisted of donkey, horse and venison sausages. All excellent. Tried the beef, venison and sausage stews - all served with excellent polenta. Very tasty.
Suggest this as an alternative to the main Belligio restaurants, especially for a lunch. Is a good twenty minute drive out of town, all uphill.
View is OK but blocked by trees.
Service was friendly and helpful.

“Not just Polenta”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2014 via mobile

Just a quick walk up the road from the Jungle Raider Park where I was headed with my son.
Came across it by chance, and was happily surprised.
Midweek, and the restaurant filled up very quickly. It is August though.
The decor is pleasant as was the service.
The location, surrounded by green luscious flora and through the gaps lovely views of lake Como.
Now for the food!
We started with an Antipasti of Bresaolo, salame, pancetta, sott'acetti e cipolle in agrodolce. Big enough for two as a small starter and great quality.
As a secondo I had the Misto of Brasato, funghi, cervo, cotechino e lenticchie. Regional food which felt like home cooking, very pleasant and not large but substantial. My boy had bistecca di manzo.
Overall a very pleasant experience, good location and comforting food. As mentioned in other reviews, lots of regional food which is great, and not everything is served with Polenta.

“Good quality Local Country Fare”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2013

To enjoy this restaurant a car is almost a necessity as it is located about 15 minutes from Bellagio at the bottom of San Primo in a little village called Piano Rancio.

We booked a table for 15 and there were other tables with bookings of similar numbers. The chalet can seat around 150 people both upstairs and downstairs.

The atmosphere is informal and relaxing and the service suits the ambiance. All 15 of us were very happy with our choices of antipasti, primi and secondi courses. Favorites included "Lardo", "Pizzoccheri" and anything with Polenta as we dining in a house that specialises in Polenta. The restaurant caters for those with a sweet tooth also.

Parking in the vicinity is always available and the menu is online if you want to check other options to Polenta.

We were all happy with the experience and found the bill reasonable.

“Great local Recommendation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2013

We have Italian friends that live on the shores of Lake Como and they had been telling us about this restaurant for quite some time. This time around we got them to drive us there and it was well worth it.

The dishes we had with polenta were all great. The polenta served was not the liquidy type that is prepared in other parts of Italy, but firmer. In my opinion this version is infinitely better. Make no mistake, the place does not only serve polenta, and the polenta actually crops up with a lot of other things. We had the house special polenta which was excellent together with a selection of starters. Good wine list, service and incredible views at a reasonable price.
