“A very interesting town. Well worth a visit.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2011

At least a day is needed to look round this lovely town. It's steeped in history. The town has two centres, the upper city, a hilltop medieval town, surrounded by 17th C. walls, and the lower city. To see them both use the funicular. It also has an attractive piazza and interesting churches.
The only downside is that it's a popular place and therefore is very busy with plenty of tourists.

“Not just an airport!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2011

Take the time if you can to spend a day or so in this fantastic town!
It's well worth a visit if you are passing through from the airport, particularly the medieval walled upper town 'Citta Alta' with its beautiful buildings and narrow streets, not to mention the spectacular views. It's easy to explore both the upper town and the lower town 'Citta Bassa' on foot, travelling between the two on the funicular railways, or take the bus up and walk down.
You won't regret spending at least a night here, Bergamo is a real hidden treasure!

“A very beautiful place”

A great destination from London - easy to reach using low cost airline RyanAir. Great town square and beautifult surroundings right at the foot of the alps. The foothills of the Alps begin immediately north of the town.

“The town worth seeing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2011

For the first time I had the opportunity to fly to Italy, so I chose the beginning of Bergamo. I was extremely surprised by the Italian architecture and style of the city. Nice, very clean city. Friends say that even nicer than Milan, which is a few miles. Generally, I'll go there again.

“Long weekend at Bergamo”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2011

We are a family and travel one of our child age 10 with us. We thought it will be a good idea to go Bergamo for a few days. Yes, we were right. Very nice town. We did stay at the one of self-catering apartment. we good location and safe, we idi enjoy it.Friday to Sunday night there is a small street market at the centre of town.

At the old town restaurant Sole was great value and fantastic food. ( long face waiters )
Old town is great , best way to go up is finucula. When you in town buy a 3 days bus and finucula ticket, great value.

One day we went to ski resort "Foppolo" very nice place . Before we go there , try to get some imformation from tourist office by the rail-way station. They are not good to give imformation, they said it was very difficult to go there and bed bus service ect... Then we went to bus station office right behind it they show us how to bus time table works ect.. it was easy 2 hrs journay by local bus coast is RT 8 Euros. ski coast 15 Euros, lesson for child / one hour was 35 Euros. lift is 11 Euros.
Last day we went to lake Como, town is very nice, only thing is winter time ( February ) there is no boat trip on the lake...weather was very good & sunny we just sit by the lake, that was Ok. and great lunch at the one back street restaurant per person 13 Euros.Good food.
That was a nice experiance for afew days at Bergamo, we will back again.
