“Friendly, helpful staff.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2013

We had a slight problem with a delay in the hotel charging my credit card, which resulted in a slight increase in the cost. To make up for this they offered to upgrade us to a "Privilege" top floor room with good views, free mini bar with water and soft drinks and nice bath robes with a pod coffee maker. They offered this months before we went, but honoured their promise and upgraded all three rooms we had booked. There are tea and coffee makers, nice toiletries and hairdryers in all the rooms which saves carrying them when you are trying to keep the weight of your case down!

The Hotel has a central location, easy to access from the inexpensive airport shuttle bus and is near the main station, making trips to Milan and Lakes quite straightforward.

We booked breakfast which was good, but with a much bigger cold selection of food. The hot food was fairly limited. We certainly didn't go hungry.

All the staff were very pleasant and helped us out, recommending and booking restaurants. The staff were really friendly in the breakfast area and kept it well stocked and the tables cleared and always took the time to tell us to enjoy our day as we were leaving. This is in contrast to many hotels where the breakfast staff are harassed and as a result not very helpful.

We couldn't get the wi-fi in our rooms to work very well, there is also some building work going on nearby, but we didn't find it intrusive.

There is a good supermarket next door and a nice bar almost outside the hotel, where you can eat nice appetisers free if you buy a drink in the early evening. This "apperitivo" ( free nibbles) is available in lots of bars in the early evening. There is also a nice restaurant across the road which sells a great range of ice creams and nice food with very helpful staff.

Every second Thursday night Bergamo has a big street party, where they have DJ's playing music, tented food stalls and bars, a latin american dance studio had everyone up dancing and there was a bouncy Titanic (Yes!) for children. This was not far from the hotel and It was really fun and gave the place a real buzz..

We also liked the fact that checkout wasn't until 12 o'clock. All 6 of us would certainly go back to this hotel if returning to Bergamo.

Room Tip: I was in Room 415, this had a nice view up to the old part of the town, and a small balcony.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2013 via mobile

We stayed here for a night in June at the end of our holiday. I chose it because it was near the station and cheap but I was pleasantly surprised by how nice it was. The interior is modern and clean, the rooms are spacious and comfortable with air conditioning and lovely big bathrooms. The location wss ideal, directly across from the station. It took 15-20 minutes to walk straight up the street to the funicular to the old town. It was a lovely hotel and very good value. I would definitely stay here again

The Mercure Palazzo Dolci is located in an excellent position in respect to downtown Bergamo. It allows you to arrive by train, bs and car very conveniently. The hotel itself is quite nice with spacious rooms. Air conditioning is definitively NOT the best as it barely worked. The windows will keep the noise outside as the surrounding roads have heavvy traffic. Price is certainly very attractive.

The best bit about this hotel has to be the rooms! They're all spacious but individual and all the fixtures and fittings are great quality! The hotel staff were generally good. The lady that checked us in was fantastic and gave us good restaurant recommendations. The two reception staff that checked us out were quite disorganised and unhelpful. The location is good for the station but the area isn't very attractive. However, there are some nice cafes around for a morning coffee.

We booked the cheapest room we could get, as we were only staying for two nights. The room was absolutely fine, bright, clean and fresh, and the bathroom was also good. The receptionists were, without exception, welcoming and helpful. We didn't try the bar or the restaurant. The hotel has free wifi, which is a little frustrating, as you need to get a log-in name and password from exception, which expires after 12 hours. We would return to this hotel if coming to Bergamo again.

Room Tip: We had a fourth-floor room, which was very quiet.

Great location close to train station.

Short walk to the city, and some 10-15mins walk to cable car station to Citta Alta.

Spacious room, free wi-fi, modern bathroom, balcony too.

There's a supermarket just downstairs next to hotel.

Didn't try breakfast.

If you arrive Bergamo by train and need hotel within easy reach, this is the place to stay.
