Got in late to Bergamo and the hotel clerk recommended Trattoria Caprese. It does have a full menu but pizza is really the thing here and it is excellent - I have eaten a lot of pizza in Italy (I grew up in Verona) and this is in the top tier of wood fired thin crust pizza. Beautiful slightly chewy crust with the black spots from the wood fire. My wife had a salad which she loved, The waiter was fantastic - it was like we had known him all our lives. The restaurant was hopping (I think there was a birthday celebration) but not horribly loud. They came to each table and gave us a spoonful of homemade nutella fudge from the birthday celebration that was delicious. And at the end of the meal, they gave us complementary carafe of limoncella and meloncella. Can't beat this place for the money.
