“marvellous style”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2012

It is inside the Torre del Gombito. I agree with the statement that it is difficult to reach, since it is located in the pedestrian area of Bergamo alta. I also agree that breakfast was good, but the choice was limited.
Having said that, the style of the hotel is just something you have to see: the design of the rooms, the bathroom, the plates, the coffe cups .... everything recalls the tower! Amazing, fantastic! Quiet rooms, I slept very well. All was perfectly clean and service was very friendly.

This hotel is a "must stay", i highly recommend.

Very happy with this hotel last week - just for one night but hard to fault it. My OH thought the designer touches were a little overdone leading to it being a little impersonal (it did feel a bit like staying inside a modern art gallery) but I loved it. No problems with noise as our room faced into a darkish inner courtyard. Breakfast was good, I thought - I'm sure they'd bring more out if you wanted it but didn't want to disturb the minimalist style.
Good place for a night. One comment - the 40 euro transfer from the airport is expensive. I think a local taxi would be nearer 20ish but you wouldn't get the nice man with the sign!

Gombit Hotel is located in the heart of the Cita Alta and all the attractions are in walking distance. Our room was clean and nicely furbished with modern elements in the old structure. The only thing not convincing about Gombit Hotel was the breakfast which was a little scarce.

we stayed for 1 night to be near the airport due to the early take off of our return flight to the UK. It is a difficult place to find even the taxi driver drove past it twice . its a modern boutique hotel and i found the reception staff to be a bit cold . we went to our room to find it was roasting inside (as this is an "eco" hotel the room is dormant until a key is placed inside the room then all the facilities start up lights a/c etc) so it was 26 degrees in our room after an hour of this and no change in temperature in the room i went to reception only to be told that there was a problem with the a/c and its being worked on . No info in the room either as to how to work anythng so i didnt know if the settings were right. Eventually we were moved to a suite on the same floor and no difference in room temperature either the a/c was not working properly there either but by now it was nearly 19:30 so we wanted to go out for dinner so put up with it . Needless to say neither of us slept much that night due to the extreme temperature in the room and again an extremely uncomfortable bed. Breakfast was dreadful and summed up the hotel really it looked wonderful but came up short on all fronts . Its part of the Design group of hotels but when you start looking around i.e the shower and the sink tap it is a bad design hotel. You may think that my review is sour grapes because of the air conditioning issue but try the hotel for yourself and make up your own mind , the a/c may work properly now and the tap might move out of the way so you can shave without head butting it and the shower knob may have been modified so you can operate it with wet hands and the staff might have done customer service course. on the plus side its in a great location and the rooms are massive for a city centre hotel. We wont be returning

Room Tip: ask if the air conditioning is working

We had a difficult time finding the Gombit even with our GPS but two wonderful women took us right to the hotel and even went in to explain where we had abandoned our car. By the time they left us, it was with hugs and kisses and good wishes for our vacation. No one at the hotel helped us as much as they did.
The hotel is very trendy in its decor and perhaps too self-consciously so. The emphasis is more on design than function. We had a large room with sitting area and well appointed bathroom. It is all carefully decorated although I did not like the orange and gray color scheme. My husband thought the square everything - toilet, sink, bidet, etc. was an affectation. (The wastebasket was actually round but was hidden under a bench so that when you tried to open the lid it banged on the underside of the bench which was annoying.)
We chose the Gombit for its location in the Alta Citta and to try a different type of accommodation for us. The service was fine and it was an interesting, quiet, and comfortable place to stay but next time we would opt for a different type of charm.

GombitHotel is an excellent choice for anyone who appreciates perfect location close to the funivia, cosy and quiet rooms, and good restaurants close by.
