“A smile doesn't hurt”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2012

Had some time to spend in between two salescalls and sat down at this place.
It took quite some time before they realized that there were people sitting outside and both the waiter and waitress seemed not happy to be working. Working in the hospitality industry myself I always figure that the rule "smile, you're on stage" should apply at all times.
Anyhow, the view of the small square is nice.
The presentation of the product is good but for the price you pay you could expect more.

Verdict:
I hope that the bad attitude of the service staff was an one time occurance and not every day. If the staff is smiling it's a bit pricey but decent.

“Great place for a coffee”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

We recently had a long weekend in Bergamo with friends and this was the fist place we found for a coffee and a light bite to eat. It's in a great central location, and has a very stylish interior. We had great coffees and a couple of panini's. The waitress also brought out a good selection of free 'nibbles and snacks'. It's not the cheapest place in Bergamo, but it did the trick for us.

“Tasty but expensive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2012

Having heard good things about this place I decided to give it a go for my solo Bergamo breakfast - I sat outside in under the arches, lovely but surprisingly empty. The array of pastries was fantastic, and there are lots of cute little chocolates to take back home. I ordered a cappuccino and a pain au chocolat - both delicous, was impresed that the pastry was filled with dark chocolate rather than nutella which is rather too common in Italian pasticcerias. The staff were friendly and fairly prompt too.

However...I was surprised by the cost - €4.80. Similar to what I'd pay in expensive Ireland...it seems a lot compared to other cafes I've been to in Italy. I suppose the 'historic cafe' title and location are some compensation, but still...

Located in the centre of Bergamo, this café is good but pretty expensive....a breakfast (capuccino + croissant) costs € 4,20!! It's more expensive than a breakfast at the famous Peck ( € 3,00) in Milan!!
