“Romantic athmosphere in the heart of Cittá Alta!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2013

We travelled to Bergamo on October 2013 with my husband. We searched accomodation not from high level hotel, but more comfortable and quite area at the old town of Bergamo. We found Casa Mario Lupo, which was located in historical building. Casa is nice B & B place to stay, even for longer time. You can easily reach the new centre of Bergamo as well, with good bus connection nearby. Casa's reception, Gianmauro was helpful and kept contact to us right after booking and gave clear instructions for parking etc. Room was nice with 3 large rooms; 2 bedrooms, kitchen/livingroom & bathroom (with laundry machine etc) Very good for family trip or two couples! Few things what were minus: no shower cream, and no drinking water in the rooms. Breakfast was light; bread, tasty coffee, fresh fruits, yogurths, juice. But everything was great, we enjoyed!

Room Tip: Studio room was located in upper floor with entrance to garden. Minus was church bells ringing from...

We enjoyed our three days in the smaller apartment which is a good size, and more than big enough for a couple.Gianmauro ( B and B owner ) is a nice person, who was very helpful, and spoke good English. The location is excellent being, about 50 metres straight walk to the main street, where there are plenty of restaurants to choose from for a nice evening meal. On the main street turn right and this takes you to the funicular which transports you to the lower town. Turn left and you head towards the funicular which takes you to the funicular which takes you to the top of Bergamo. Staying here you are right in the heart of a lot of history, where you can visit for free, cathedrals with impressive artwork on the walls and ceilings.

Stayed for two nights in August 2013. Quirky but comfortable and roomy apartment in 14th century building. Right in the cente of the old town, almost backs onto the cathedral. Very quite apart from the church bells. Host was very helpful and friendly and arranged pick up from the airport and drop off at the station.Great but inexpensive restaurants on the door step. The historical town is a delight. Great property for couples or families.Breakfast was a little basic. Have never had four keys to get to a room, but it was fun!

Room Tip: Only a few rooms all would be good

Really enjoyed our 2 nights in this very spacious apartment.

The kids loved to loft bedroom - although adults do need to bend over as the ceiling is low. We had sitting area and a separate kitchen and dining room (do not know how well equipped as we did not cook while there).

The apartment had loads of character - high ceilings, beams, fireplace etc. but a good shower and modern bathroom too. The design, with a central courtyard, kept the apartment shaded for much of the day and, with a breeze at night through the many windows, we were comfortable without aircon.

Breakfast was upstairs in a shady little garden. It was basic but adequate, not like some of the very lavish affairs that feed you enough for the whole day.

The citizens of Bergamo clearly do not like lie ins as you will be awoken by bells that ring frequently until you give in and get up!

We stayed here for 7 fantastic days and nights, and it was a wonderful experience. GianMauro was a very pleasant and lovely person who advised us on some lovely places see and visit. The train station is only 15 mins away and we were able to go to Verona, Lake Como, Venice and Milan. There is a beautiful garden where he serves breakfast and it is the perfect start to the day. The appartment is very comfortable and relaxing and spotlessly clean. Also the airport is very accessible with a regular bus service. A beautiful place well worth a visit and we will definitely consider returning next year,

Perfectly located in the old town of Bergamo! Spacious apartment for 5 people, clean and fresh with oldfashioned, personal charm. Quiet except for the church bells. Very nice and friendly host who gave us an excellent service! A wonderfully cozy little garden was the finishing touch! No air condition made it a little too warm for me in the end of July.

We stayed for 5 wonderful nights with Gianmauro and his family in Bergamo Alto and enjoyed their hospitality. Their BnB is in a beautiful historic house and Gianmauro was a friendly and helpful host. We particularly enjoyed our breakfasts up on the garden terrace with the chiming of bells to welcome in the new day. Highly recommended.
