I had seen a review in a French food magazine and was surprised it was nearly empty on a Friday afternoon (Friday is market day in Ventimiglia and entirely skippable). The food was outstanding--tiny Venetian shrimp, fried and eaten whole as an amuse bouche, grilled prawns and a wonderful lobster main. We were too stuffed for dessert, but it looked good. Service was a bit standoffish at first, but once we showed we appreciated the food, it warmed up considerably. Probably the best meal I had in 3 months on the French and Italian Riviera, including a couple of Michelin-starred restaurants.
