“Great Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2009

I stayed in Santa Margherita for a long weekend and had a great time the staff were friendly and helpful the restaurant was ideal with great prompt service. My room was clean and well maintained and as I was on the fourth floor I was right next to the veranda with a great view over Santa Margherita.

Room 405 on the top floor was perfect for 4 nights in late May. Staff all very helpful and a good breakfast in the garden to start the day. Santa Margherita is a delightful spot and the best choice on this part of the coast. Would definitely choose the Minerva again. For golfers nearby Rapalllo is one of the most beautiful courses we have played.

My wife and I stayed at Hotel Minerva with her parents for 7 days in September. The hotel is kept in almost perfect condition. The rooms are bright and modern with comfortable beds. The family that runs the hotel are very nice, as were all of the staff. The breakfast provided each day is delicious and the outdoor dining area is lovely. It borders on insanity to see the one star review on this hotel from some lady, who clearly must have been smoking crack whilst staying there. It is a shame all hotels could not be of the standard of Hotel Minerva. The only place to stay in Santa Margherita.

I first discovered the hotel Minerva a few years ago when i was holidaying with some girlfriends. We found it purely by accident, and it turned out to be the highlight of our holiday. I now stay there as often as i can, but unfortunately that's not often enough.
It's a great place, set far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the town center yet easily within walking distance of all the bars and shops.
Every time i stay i see a different bedroom, each with it's own character, and all of them bright, airy and clean.
The staff are always friendly and chatty and i genuinely can't wait to return.

Located on a quiet street a few blocks from the seaside promenade, this is a wonderful hotel. We thought that the Euro 122 per night (including breakfast) that we paid was a bargain.

The rooms are spotless, all of the furnishings are in great shape, and all of the equipment works. Importantly for summer visitors, the air conditioning is very efficeint. Internet access is available for a nominal charge.

We had a room with a small balcony that was charming.

The staff is very attentive and helpful.

The breakfast is delicious.

There is an excellent restaurant, Il Faro, about a block away. Ask for the Evergreen Menu.

We stayed 3 nights and would definitely go back if we return to this part of Italy.

The Hotel Minerva was an overall good experience. One room was on the front of the hotel and the other, smaller room was on the back without much of a view. However, we spent most of our time on the terrace where we relaxed and ate most of our meals. The staff was polite and attentive. My companions and I spent a pleasant weekend there. When we left the hotel, much to our surprise, we were given a cake!!

  • Liked — The friendly staff and the hotel terrace
  • Disliked — The size of the room at the back of the hotel overlooking construction.
  • Tips/Secrets — We really liked the staff and they could tell it.

My sister in law and myself stayed at the hotel minerva in july for 4 nights. First we were not given the room with a balcony that we booked. The night front desk attendant was mean, mean, mean. She treated us like we were children (although we are in our late thirties and mid forties). I caught her sleeping in pajamas in a seperate room when i came down for an extra pillow and she told me it was impossible to get another pillow. this was because she was still half asleep and was upset that i, the customer, had awaken her, the night duty attendant! All she kept saying was "what time is it", uhh--what difference does it make, we are 6 hours behind your schedule off a plane from the US and who cares just get me the d... pillow. Then the next night she yelled and screamed at us when we arrived late at the hotel. she also locked another customer out while we were there. This is not a hostel but a regular hotel, yet it runs like a house hold. The elevators only worked half the time we were there. The maid service was just fine. The walls are thin however and you can hear your neighbors in their bathroom--yuck! The room was a teeny tiny square with construction out the window every morning at 8:00. I was showing my sis in law italy for the first time and this was the first impression for her. Trust me when i tell you, if you dont want big brother hanging over your head while traveling then dont book here.
