“Beautiful hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2013

We loved it. Location could not be better, next to center of the town of Santa Margherita. Amazing waterfront room. Excellent service, excellent everything! Very nicely renovated, maintaining its traditional façade. Very clean and agreeable.

Good location in the centre of the bay - but hotel parking is off site and costs E30 per day!
There is no pool although the beach is directly opposite the hotel - but across a busy road. The beach itself was not enticing (especially under a grey sky!) and pebbly
The best thing about the hotel is the staff who without exception were helpful friendly and efficient
But the quality of the hotel overall was lacking - with poor layout and lots of stairs
We booked a suite - but it was divided between front and back with 2 sets of stairs within the room itself!
The bed was large and comfortable - with an additional sofabed in the sitting area
The bathroom was small with an overbath rather underpowered shower - and a shower curtain rather than a screen
Poor quality thin towels and although robes were provided in the suite they were rather hard!
The room was well lit with 2 flatscreen TVs - one in each room (but no English speaking channel that we could find)
Mini bar but no tea and coffee making facilities (although there had evidently been the use of a kitchen in the room which was closed off and padlocked!)
No iron or board
No clock/alarm
No safe
Free wifi but difficult to pick up and slow
Buffet breakfast but no cooked food - and cappuccino/expresso can be ordered additionally
Massages etc have to be booked well in advance as the masseuse is called in from outside. She was very nice but there was no privacy - the table was small and hard and squeaked - and the room was rather cold and noisy

Overall, whilst we enjoyed our time there we wouldn't return as the quality was lacking and generally it didn't have the feel of a 4 star hotel (especially compared with other 4 star hotels in the town) - but perhaps it's a question of getting what you pay for

Room Tip: If you select a suite you will probably have a bedroom at the back of the hotel which is much quiete...

The Lido Palace is a downhill walk from the train station. Though they have a car park down the road, cars are just a nuisance in this part of Italy and the trains are efficient and inexpensive. We spent two nights in a room with a small balcony overlooking the beach. It's a memorable view, though the downside of the sea-side of the hotel is enough traffic noise to preclude sleeping with the window open. With the window shut the noise almost disappears.

The staff is friendly, the breakfast buffet has almost everything one might want--except bacon and eggs, but this is Italy. Lunch in the restaurant was average. The room is modern and comfortable, the bathroom spotless but with a shower in the tub that is awkward though manageable for those of taller stature. There were two steps up to the bathroom in our room, about half a dozen up to each room on the first floor except for the end suites, which have their own internal stairs.

A 3+ star hotel in a pretty setting in a resort town. If you're looking for more than that, try the Continental.

We greatly enjoyed our 3-day stay in April 2013 in a sea-view mini-suite. The hotel is clean, comfortable and the staff helpful. The included breakfast buffet was excellent.

We loved being right across the street from the bay and watching the sailboats and people passing from our balcony. Our bedroom also had a nice view of the walkway behind the hotel where there were several shops and restaurants. Best of all, we could open the front/balcony door and the bedroom window and let the ocean breeze blow through! It was wonderful!

Across the roundabout from the hotel is a whole string of (8 or 10) very good restaurants offering a variety of foods. And within two blocks was a lovely shopping street with rows of unique shops, pasticcerias, restaurants and even small grocers with local vegetables and fruits.

For great comfort, convenience, service and value, we highly recommend Lido Palace Hotel!

Room Tip: Get a sea-view room with a balcony if possible, and we also very much liked the "mini-suite&quo...

Thrillled that we had sea views, tastefully decorated large bed rooms, seperate lounge but not much space otherwise, little balcony but brillant view of the Mediterranean, even the cruise ships sail past. Walk to everything, restaurants, foccacia bars etc within 3 mins, 5 mins walk to station - just up the hill behind. Great little cafe behind the hotel for daily panini etc. 10 min boat trip around he coast to Portofino.

Room Tip: The car park is 200 metres away , after you unload at the door- costs extra

We have stayed here multiple times, and love it! They have nice large rooms with small terraces which open up onto the gorgeous ocean front. The rooms are split level with a living area and kinf sized bedroom. The daily breakfast is delicious and always fresh, and don't miss the cappuccinos! My favorite thing? The wall safe behind a large picture in every room - so cool!

Room Tip: Spring for one of the suites, you won't regret it!
