The beauty of the Ligurian Riviera (of Cinque Terre fame) is best experienced from the sea. While a Marine Protected Area off the coast of the Portofino National Park makes the experience out of bounds for motorboats, and even most sailboats, Outdoor Portofino takes you right up to the stunning coastlines, great snorkeling spots, and delicious eats at San Fruttuoso, Camogli, and Portofino food spots. For those who are interested in learning about the places they visit, Luca's depth of knowledge about the areas' natural history will keep you entertained and provide some context about what you are looking at, allowing you to return home full of stories and knowledge about one of Italy's natural wonders.
I highly recommend you sign up for the overnight kayak trip to San Fruttuoso, a tiny village in the middle of the national park that is only accessible by foot and by the water. You will be staying in a quaint Agro-Rifugio (agrarian cabin) and fed a deliciously traditional ligurian meal (for us it was mix of fresh fried vegetables and trofie al pesto) from their cliff-side garden that overlooks the fjord-like bay of San Fruttuoso.
Don't be put off by the physical nature of Kayaking! It's a very gentle form of 'exercise' that doesn't leave you sore, even after a two day trip where you will get to burn off many of the calories from all of the Focaccia and pasta you will be eating throughout your trip.
If you find yourself in Liguria, an outing with Outdoor Portofino is the best thing you can do to get access to stunning sights, enjoy the water, and learn about the place you are visiting.
