“Very new, very nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 15, 2012

Beautiful boutique hotel or B&B. Extremely new and up to date and a great place to stay for one night before heading to Monterosso. Very good value as the room was large, clean with a scenic balcony overlooking a quiet road. Highly recommended if you want to stay in La Spezia.

Certainly there are pros to staying in the Cinque Terre villages themselves: amazing views and a head start on the trails before the day trippers arrive. However, the B&Bs and hotel tend towards rustic and more expensive, so we chose to stay at Urban Chic House at La Spezia, the nearest major town (with transfers to Cinque Terre every 30 minutes or so).
The B&B, less than 1 year old, is indeed deserving of its name. Just slightly off the main pedestrian shopping street, the interiors are new, modern and well equipped. Complimentary water, snacks and good toiletries are welcome touches. Breakfast was more varied than usual, and Patrizia, our host was helpful and prompt in her replies. She also steered us towards an amazing restaurant All Inferno, which is a most-try when in La Spezia.
There aren't many attractions in La Spezia itself, but as I mentioned above, there are frequent connections to Cinque Terre, and also Portevenere and Lerici.

This little boutique hotel is just amazing. Don't let the frontage put you off or the entry hall. Take tiny elevator to the second floor and the owner will greet you and take you to a little gem. When you first walk in you are overcome with how modern and clean it is. It has only been open 6 months and the finishes on all of the fittings and furnishing is just A1. We are taken to the breakfast eating area which is just immaculate and then shown our room. with heated marble tiled floors, separately controlled temperature controlled heating/cooling, fridges in each room with complimentary drinks like water and some nibbles, this little hotel is very welcoming. Chocolates by the bed and a kettle, cups, tea and coffee etc if you ask are just another one of the things that was just so inviting especially when you are a long way from home - namely Australia. The owner is just so accommodating and the hotel even has its own little kitchen with a microwave. It is very secure with double deadlocks on all rooms, a lockable safe in each room and a double deadlock on the front door of the hotel itself. I would thoroughly recommend this place to anyone visiting La Spezia or as a base for visiting Cinque Terra.

Room Tip: All rooms have double glazing on the windows and even when there was a market across the road each m...

Just in front of the local market were the atmosphere is really good. The location is at the city centre were it has a really good ambience with lots of street shops. The rooms were really well design, and give's you a high sense of cosiness.

Room Tip: Corner suites are larger (2 big windows, plus the one of the bathroom). Middle rooms have a small ba...

Urban Chic House is by far the best accomodation in La Spezia. We searched so many hotels and B&B's and even stayed at a 4 star hotel first. Urban Chic house was better than all the places we looked at and stayed at...by far! Upmarket, clean and comfortable rooms, great breakfasts and the owner and staff were amazing! Always willing to help with advice, directions, anything we needed we felt free to ask and they were more than happy to oblidge. Personally I would definately recommend this accomodation to anyone and will be returning to stay again. It was an absolute pleasure, Thank you Urban Chic House xx

Don't get put off by the scary entrance - this boutique guest house is situated on the second floor of an old italian palazzo d'epoca. With 5 Terre being fully packed during summer months, finding accommodation in la spezia is a very good solution. You will not find any hotel of the level of Urban Guest House for a comparable price.

INTERIOR DESIGN Very nice modern design makes this place so adorable!

SERVICE Outstanding service. We asked for a room with a balcony and this request was met. We also had to do a late check-in and we found the staff ready and waiting for us. At our check-out we were offered special benefits which we unfortunately couldn't use, however, we left with a very nice feeling about UCH. Free wi-fi.

FOOD A choice of traditional continental breakfast buffet.

PRICES Due to a special event in the city, we paid the highest rate, it was totally worth it though! Id recommend booking directly with the UCH

LOCATION We walked from the train station about 10-15mins. From our window we could see a sort of roofed square where there was a concert. Charming.

OVERALL you can really tell that at UCH they know how to take care of it's guests. I really don't have any criticisms to make, had a lovely, pitifully short stay. Complimenti!

Wishing to make a return journey to Liguria after 35 years and take a walk in the Chinque Terre I looked in vain for a reasonably priced hotel. I had to search further afield to La Spezia. Still difficult but came across ‘Urban Chic House’.
Booking on line proved a little difficult byut coul have been because the B&B was very new. Arrived by train to La Spezia. Found the street after a very easy walk. Eventually found the entrance to the apartment. From the UK we were not use to the ‘Continental Entrance’. Dark, dinghy with the old open lift. What had we come to? Came to the second floor. Entered the B&B – fantastic. Modern designer interior. Made very welcome by the young couple owners. Clean bright. Breakfast again Continental but fresh and the coffee good. Would recommend to anyone as a base for travel in the area. Price of 95 Euros for the nigh about right. WELL DONE

Room Tip: Rooms quiet even tough town centre. Couple of teething problems (shower leaked Air con not poweful...
