“Perfect home whilst in La Spezia!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2013

We stumbled upon Crismar Hotel by chance while wondering through the city looking for a decent place to spend the night. We hadn't planned for any accommodation and had a hard time finding something that seemed both reasonably priced and welcoming - until we found Hotel Crismar. We walked in around 9:30pm and received a very warm welcome from Isabella who showed us a very nice and cosy room for us to stay in. The price was reasonable for the product and she was kind enough to include wifi and anything we may want from the minibar. We accepted immediately.

The overall friendliness, warmth and openness of this hotel was fantastic - Crismar not only provided a home away from home but also became part of our Spezia and great Cinque Terre experience. So much so that we decided to stay a second night.

The breakfast was very decent for the price and we especially loved Paolo who was both highly professional providing great service and extremely insightful on la Spezia - a very impressive gentleman who speaks very eloquent english.

Last but not least, I had forgotten my shirt in the hotel the day we left and Isabella was kind enough to have it sent to us in Rome within ten days. We were so impressed and grateful!

We really miss it - thank you to Isabella for everything.

We just spent one night in thIs very clean hotel. Once we figured out how to get there it was a very good location with easy access to train station parking. It cost about 15euros a day to park. The two women that greeted us at arrival were fantastic, friendly and very helpful. The train station is an easy walk. Breakfast was decent.

If you are going to La Spezia or Cinque Terre I would really recomended this hotel. It is small and cozy and the staff love their jobs. They are very helpful in guiding you to the best restaurants and how to get to the attractions in the area.

The location is close to the train station and the city at the same time. It is clean, the food is good and I think it deserves 3 stars, not 2.

My partner and I were visiting Cinque Terre and La Spezia with no hotel planned in advance. We walked in and out of several pricier hotels in the area that did not offer the same quality that Crismar did. We were greeted by Isa, who immediately showed us some rooms and allowed us to make an informed decision. Once we were settled in, she recommended several dining options and even gave us her umbrella! The rooms were IMPECCABLE and the service was so great, that we decided to stay another night.
I would highly recommend staying at Crismar, as this type of service and kindness is hard to come upon. (And the location near the train station is perfect for a day trip to Cinque Terre)

We stayed at this little B and B on our way to Cinque Terre, we were not at all impressed or even satisfied. The location is in back of a retail store, down an alley. There are only two floors in this 2 star facility, we were on the ground floor, on the side of the front desk and we could hear EVERYTHING at the front desk.

The breakfast that they offered us was not up to our standards. It seemed like it had a portion, 2 round slices of meat and cheese. We even had to order our kind of breakfast the night before. Of all the hotels and B and B's that we have ever spent time in Italy, this was our least favorite.

Good morning,
thanks for your review.

Luckily we are a small hotel so it is easy for us to recognize almost all the reviewers, and we can answer in the best way.

We're sorry that you did not spent a good stay in your room, it is a double sorrow for us because we gave you a free upgrade and this was not appreciated in any way.

It was a strange situation, also for us: we received for the first time a complaint about the room for the big size and the ground floor. Unfortunately you arrived in the late afternoon and it was not possible for us to give you a room upstair. It is true that the rooms at ground floor are close to the reception but we close very early and we are not there in the night so there is no noise during sleeping hours (except of course the guests in the other rooms!).

By the way how we can satisfy you if you start crying and begin to speak about "presences" in the buildings in front of the hotel (absolutely normal buildings in the historical center, with normal people living inside) or in the hotel itself? We are in the center of La Spezia, and it is normal to have people living their normal life near us (as all over the world!).

Our building is ancient but it was a mill, nothing else, our name is "Hotel Crismar" and not "Overlook Hotel" and we don't have any room "237" ;-)!

Jokes apart, your behavior was confirmed also from your agency which we contacted, and they asked us to allow you to stay also if you had a lot of problems with other hotels. We tried do to this in the best professional mode as always, but it was very difficult with "problems - non problems"…

We're also sorry that you didn't enjoy our breakfast, we introduced since few months a little buffet with eggs, bacon, cheese, cakes and other food to make easier "integrate" the standard breakfast… but we know it is almost impossible please everybody.

Thank you again,

Isabella Giorgi

This little bed& breakfast was just perfect for my partner& I whilst visiting La Spezia & Cinque Terre region. The room was lovely and very clean, just enough space to relax after a day of hiking &sightseeing. The staff were AMAZING, FRIENDLY & HELPFUL!
We both have coeliacs &they catered for our gluten-free needs with the included breakfast, which is very rare to find (first place in our 3 weeks of traveling through Europe) !! I would highly recommend this hidden gem to anyone &if we ever come back to La Spezia, I know where I will stay.. Hotel Crismar. Thank you !

Good morning,
thanks for your review!

We are happy to read that you enjoyed your stay in our hotel, it is always a pleasure for us if our guests leave La Spezia with a good remember of us :-)!

We confirm that it is possible to have gluten free breakfast, the only thing we need is to know it in advance so we can have the specific food in time.

Thank you again and have a nice european tour or a safe return at home :-)!

We just spent a couple of nights at Crismar Hotel, we really enjoyed it. We used it as a base for a few days of sightseeing in the CT region. Easy walk to train station, shops and restaurants are close by. Hotel was very clean and offered a nice breakfast. The last day we had to leave before breakfast to catch a train, the staff prepared a breakfast to go for us and left it in our room the night before.

One of the main reasons we chose this hotel was b/c the owners responed to every tripadvisor review, good or bad. To me that showed me they cared and wanted the ensure a great visit for every customer. Would definately recommned this nice little place for CT region visits.

Good evening,
thank you for your review, and we hope that you had a nice return at home (or maybe you're still traveling :-)?).

We're pleased to see that you appreciated our hotel, which is located in the historical center of La Spezia, the perfect base for an holiday in Cinque Terre Area.

As we discussed together during your stay, we respond to any review because we think that a little hotel like our can have a special feeling with the guests, not only a "good morning / goodbye" contact, so we remember good everybody.. so why answer only to not positive reviews :-)?

We everybody hope to have you as our guests in the future, thank you again!
