Four of us spent a late April week in La Spezia as a base for walking in the Cinque Terre. Our centrally-located hotel suggested several local restaurants, but we so liked Al Quadrato that we ate there on four evenings. The menu is attractive with a good choice of antipasti, primi piatti [lots of pasta dishes], secondi piatti [both meat and fish] and a range of dolci as well as a large selection of pizzas. The house wine (both red and white) was pretty good. Service from owner Stefano De Lisi and his staff was friendly and efficient. The restaurant was always comfortably busy - a good sign we felt - and the dining area was bright and clean. We came away feeling we'd had a 'good dining experience' - good food at a good price in a good atmosphere.
