“Best hotel to stay in Genoa”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

Very clean, excellent location and very quiet. Only 10 min walk to the old city or shopping areas from the hotel. The breakfast was included with the room and there was a variety of excellent food. After a day of walking in the old city, the hotel has a hot sauna to relax with an indoor swimming pool and turkish baths, showers and a bath robe (all included with the price of the room except the robe). Bathroom in the room had a TV mirror if you wanted to watch a movie while taking a bubble bath. The room also had a 45 inch plasma TV. Excellent service, excellent restaurant. First class hotel at an excellent price, which we booked through Expedia. Taxis to the airport took 20 min ride at a cost of 26 euros.

Room Tip: Ask for an up-grade room at a 20 euro per day extra. Worth it.

A lot of Genoa is a chaotic mess -- this hotel is an oasis. Its in a relaxed and safe area but pretty close to the action. The rooms are large and clean and the hotel is very quiet. I slept better than at my own house in nyc. The design and architechture are stylish.

I don't know if the hotel is that "hip" anymore (it seemed a mix of well-dressed younger people travelling middle aged types and buisness men) as its sometimes represented in the media but its a good value for what you get verse the $.

caveat: its pretty easy to take mass transportation from the Melia but getting back at night may be confusing if you don't know the city well you might need to take a taxi.

This hotel is very nice. Good location, great rooms and service, overall good value for money. There is also a nice bar in a hotel with excellent "aperitivi" and snacks. All these great reviews on Tripadvisor are correct.

Wow this place sets the bar in Genova. I have been to other hotels in the area and this is the best hotel in the city. Very clean upscale hotel with excellent restaurant setting. Service was excellent and respected. Clean rooms and great views.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a suite when here. The cost is minimal.

The atmosphere and decor of this hotel were excellent and the room and bathroom, were very well furnished. However there were some disadvantages, the very large television was slow to change channels and reception was poor and its main purpose seemed to be to sell subscription services. Wi fi in rooms was expensive except for a limited period and one had the inconvenience of moving to the lobby for free wi fi. Although the hotel looks quite close to the station the topography means that it is not really feasible on foot so one is reliant on a not very frequent bus service. The reception had no information on publc transport or tourist passes. As this is classified as a 5 star hotel you are required to pay a 3 Euro per night per person tax, not included in the hotel tariff If you get a budget deal this can make a substantial difference to the amount paid.

A top quality hotel, highly recommented, with an extremely kind and efficient personell and top level services. At a walking distance from the centre in a nice and quite area. The only flaws/weaknesses I experienced were:
1) within the context of a great breakfast buffet an ordinary cappucino. It tasted like a cappuccino not prepared with a high quality coffee mashine.
2) wifi should be free of charge like in most countries and top quality hotels. It is already a basic service.
3) I stayed there only for one night (at the second floor) and it was Friday night, so the sound of the bar/disco at the ground floor was quite high. I don't know how it is on "normal" days, but it was a bit too loud (relatively speaking) for my taste.
In a top class hotel these three aspects - which might not be a problem in a lower class hotel - should not arise. This does not impede me to go there again, when in Genoa.

Room Tip: Ask for quite rooms

This is by far the best hotel in Genova. I reserved a Deluxe King room, but was given a complimentary upgrade to a corner junior suite. They had planned it in advance because there was a personalized letter in the room with snacks and a bottle of water. I am impressed. The bathroom was very large and clean, the bed quite comfortable, and the overall decor very tasteful and very Italian. I will definitely be back.
