“PORTO ANTICO GENOA”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2012

This area used to be the old port of Genoa hence the name Porto Antico. It was renovated by the architect Renzo Piano for public use. Many things to do in the area best of all the Aquarium which is beautifully laid out particularly the jelly fish tank. The Bigo is an elevator which takes you high up for a superbe view of Genoa- the magazzini del cotone used to be warehouses there are restaurants and shops movie theaters and plenty to do, even a pirate ship (replica used for a film a few years ago) It is a pleasant and safe area to just sit and relax. There is a marina where you can buy a boat ride which goes sightseeing around the port there is also the Nave Bus for the cost of a bus ticket which goes to Pegli in twenty minutes a seaside town just up the coast which has a nice seafront promenade, a maritime museum, nice churches, shops and restaurants or you can buy some focaccia or pizza on the seafront and have a picnic on the beach.

“nice place to relax”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2012

Still a working port, considering this is the place where Columbus came from. A mall lots of restaurant and different kinds of boats and ships to look at with a real old galleon on display. Also nice place to have a picnic or/and people watch.

“Nice for a walk”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2012

Nice for a walk at the end of the day, of to stop by for a lunch and a gelato.
The guys trying to sell fake merchandising are a bit too much for my taste

“Very Different!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2012

Eventhough it is not the cleanest it is very different to what I have seen in the past. It is definitely one of the largest attractions as it has a lot to offer from lots of restaurants to museums, local markets on the weekends and some shops.
