“lovely hotel and a beautiful breakfast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2013

I stayed here for a few nights on a work related visit. it is a bit away from the centre of the town , however the metro is a short walk away. It is very close to the main train station. I ate in a small pizzeria across the road from the hotel, but had breakfast in the hotel. Much more than the typical Italian breakfast, there was a good choice of both hot and cold food, omelettes made freshly for you. A good selection of cereals, pastries, cheeses, parma ham were available. The bar area was gorgeous for a drink (try the local wine).
My room was quite small and faced the back of the hotel. It was fine for me, but would have been a bit tight for 2 people, however the shower room was big and bright with a great shower. The reception staff on the whole were very kind and helpful, apart from 1 of the men who was more interested in speaking to his friends on the phone , however this was a minor inconvenience....I would be happy to stay here again, and Genoa is a beautiful city

Room Tip: I believe there are more modern rooms which are bigger, certainly my room was very quiet

As a party of 6, we booked this luxury hotel as it was the best in the area. We payed quite a lot for rooms (without breakfast), as this was the only option available. The exterior of the hotel was lovely, the lobby area quite grand and there was a fantastic wi-fi service throughout the hotel. The train station was directly opposite the hotel which was perfect for trips along the coast. However, the rooms were quite small and the rooftop pool were closed and the view from the top was slightly disappointing. It was an ok hotel, but I do feel we were over charged for what seemed more like a good 4 star hotel rather than 5.

....can make all the difference.

We stayed in this hotel at the start of the week and came back again at the end. Our first night involved fighting our way past a crowd of film fans who were trying to get a glimpse of some of the stars who were staying there. So that was exciting. I have to admit that we booked this hotel on a discount site at, what turned out to be an incredible rate for what was truly an incredible hotel.

Our room was stunning. Large and well equipped and decorated in a very traditional style. The hotel location is fantastic, right next to the train station and overlooking Genoa. We ate out at night so didn't eat in the hotel until breakfast where we were joined by Nicole Kidman! So, it doesn't get much better than that, does it?

We would also recommend a visit to the roof top balcony at night for incredible views of the city.

Our return visit unfortunately resulted in us being given a much smaller room right next to the lift shaft which was very noisy, although perhaps if we had complained we might have been moved. Who knows? Lesson learned but we were very tired and just wanted to get our heads down for the night.

No stars at breakfast this time but still an excellent hotel and incredible value for money.

Room Tip: Make sure your room is not next to the lift. Ask for a window facing in to the square for the best...

The only % 5 star hotel in Genoa, easy to find and 100 meters from the train station and walking distance to the port. A class hotel bursting with period features- drinks in the lounge were exquisite , the decor period 1900s. Modern rooms with expensive trimings. Breakfast is not to be missed. We has adjoining family rooms , excellent for teenage kids.

We had a long trip around Italy and stayed in 13 different hotels and cities and we have a good point of reference to rate hotels based on local standards. Among all the 4/3 star hotels that we have stayed at in years of travelling this one was the worst. Genoa is a big city and we were surprised that they did not know anything about customer service. The first time in our lives that we got into a fight with someone, and where?, in a hotel. They are bunch of idiot, rude and uncivilized thieves. The only plus is that they are close to the station, but it turns out that the cabs charge 10 Euros anyway. Such a shame, stay away!

This is a very old classic hotel (built 1897, renovated 2008), with wide and magnificent common spaces, located in front of the main train station. Its location comes good also if you travel by car, since you don't have to pass through the always busy central part of the town. This means you won't be exactly in the heart of the city, but the Old Port and new Museo Galata (Sea Museum) are quite close. If you would reach the main shopping and touristic areas by feet, please remember to avoid Via di Prè and to prefer the safer Via Balbi. Everything is easy and providing a warm service inside the hotel, although some details should require a grater care. The standard room is quite large and well equipped (free wi-fi), but you won't find a stunning interior design as you might expect from a 5-star hotel. Staff at the reception is not particularly friendly, anyway there is also a smart young man (thanks God!) who will answer to ALL your questions with a smile. Breakfast is definitively adequate to a luxury level hotel, with homemade pastries and many choices of salty and sweety food, all plenty and well exposed; there is also a special desk for scrambled eggs and bacon, in order to meet US and UK friends needs! This hotel is absolutely a very good value for money if you get a bargain fare as I did with Olotel.com booking (105€/night BB!). But if you are looking for a REAL luxury experience, be aware you could get disappointed.

Excellent location, if you wish stay near the Port, hotel is best location to visit around this city, easy to find the hotel, the restaurant is excellent, especially the restaurants manager and the young Lady was especially kind in La Tratoria beside the hotel speaking different languages. The children are welcoming even in stressful situation they have time to love them.
