“Excellent location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 20, 2013

Excellent location! good staff, breakfast and many gadgets for kids. Very close to the acquarium, city centre and other places, as the Rail stations (about 1.2 km) and the Cathedral. We did appreciate the WiFi and the room.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 13, 2013

Few words beforehand. We have been travelling across Italy in September 2013, staying every next night in another place. All in all, we stayed in some 15 hotels on the both Italian coasts and our main “concept” was to travel without any particular plan, booking when we need it and to spend no more than EUR100 per night.

"However" - is the key word for the stay here. Yes, this is BW. However, I would have tried smth else. Yes, it is decently located. However, I would rather choose closer to Porto Antico especially knowing what the trouble it will be to find a parking spot. Yes, it was clean. However, can you really see that everything is clean if the light is so dim?.. and there have been more of those "howevers" during this stay... We booked it because there was almost nothing else to book, though it was a bit outside our EUR100-per-night concept. Would I have booked something else instead, given the 2nd chance? Yes. Honestly, the mass of the "howevers" would overweigh...

Location. Not far from the centre... however... the hotel is locked among other buildings. Only the main facade oversee a piazza, rest "oversee" walls with the latters being 2 meters from the room's windows. No parking. Hold on... the correct will be... NO PARKING. At all. Nowhere. Even if you pay. Even double rate. It's not a surprise for me that there is not much parking space in italian cities, but that has truly become a surprise that in Genova you can't find a single parking lot even in the paid parking. Beleive it or not, but we were driving around the hotel for 1.5 hours looking for a spot - and you cannot even stop anywhere... Could find only one spot 20 minutes from the hotel on foot. )))

Room. Dark. Sunlight is completely blocked by a building nearby. That building is just 2 meters from the window.

Comfort. Rather okay... however it was okay until I opened the window. The street was noisy and garbage trucks were loading (or unloading?..) somewhere around the corner for the whole night... When not sleeping, I counted 5 of them... or was it the same?.. Closed the window and turned the a/c on... however due to whatever constructor's genius the a/c produced a terrible noise evey next hour, sucking out condensed water, I guess... the sound was as if somebody was sucking furiously the very remainings of his cola through a straw from a paper glass... Every hour...

Cleanness. Well, clean it is. The bathroom as well. However )))) what a strange design there - in the bathroom. Imagine white ceramic tiles laid on the walls and floor with 1 cm gaps, whereas the gaps are filled with dark-black filler - all under dimmed light. I could not get rid of the feeling that the clean bathroom is in fact not that clean... )))

Staff. No complaints. Helpful, polite... quiet and invisible - like Her Majesty's butlers... )))

Breakfast. Standard BW's (read = good) variety. No complaints. However... a surprisingly small breakfast room for the hotely of that size. It was fully packed at all times...

Recommendations: well, I honestly would not recommend this hotel to the friends, unless there is a good discount. Would I stay here again? Yes, if there's nothing else around.

Price/value. Imho, overpriced.

To conclude. I have nothing specific to complain about for my stay - really, everything was okay. And if not okay - then those things were easily survivable. If not those numerous "howevers" of the unexplainable nature - when you merely feel rather than can name it.

Needed a stopping point on the way North to Geneva and this was great. Family room with huge double bed and bunk beds. Parking was not book able but we have a disabled badge so parked pretty close. Didn't arrive until 8.30pm so asked advice on where to eat...was recommended " le Rune" nearby....excellent choice! The highlight of the stay was breakfast...wow! So much choice. Fresh and dried fruit, ham and various cheeses, olives ,tomatoes, frankfurters, scrambled eggs, delicious warm croissants and pastries, yogurt and cereals, cakes, biscuits, various breads and rolls and even a special section for young children. Great service and regular refills of all the foods....shame we only stayed one night!

Hotel was very well placed and we wandered the streets with lots of little gems within easy reach. Hotel was comfortable although parts felt as though they needed updating a bit. Breakfast was plentiful and staff helpful.
Beware some of the lanes in the old part, very easy to get confused - we ended up amongst a group of sex shops without meaning to be, which resulted in an interesting conversation with my little girl.

We were on a road trip, easy to find the hotel, but have to double park to unload, and than go park ... That was a chore ! Love the hotel, our room was awesome, breakfast included was the normal stuff, nothing spectacular. As other have said location is great for easy walking to lots of good shopping and eating. The port area is easily within walking distance. The service from the staff was awesome

We enjoyed our stay in this hotel while we were visiting Genoa on our honeymoon.
The room was very comfortable and clean all the time, although there were some works in progress in the building close to the hotel, it was quiet.
Only thing that we didn`t like in our room was that we found a little bit mold in the bathroom.
The staff was helpful and the breakfast was excellent.
Good location for the main attraction of the city, but stay away from the "carrugi" during night time.
