“Great time”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2012

We were in Vernazza early September and stayed with Evo for 2 nights. We reserved in April to be sure we had a room. Yes it is a trek up to the top where our room was but we only did that twice a day. Very clean and the fan was a good addition during the day but cool enough at night without it. We would certainly would stay again.

My friend and I stated at Ivo's rooms in mid September this year. After struggling to find accommodation at the last minute, Ivo offered us a double room for €65 per night (instead of the usual €90). The discounted rate was to encourage people back to the town after the floods, which is barely even evident anymore. Safe to say we had an amazing deal!

The room is on the 4th floor so lots of stairs, but this is the same anywhere in CT. Ivo carried my friends 20kg bag up and down the stairs for her! He met us at the station, gave us a small tour of the town and showed us to our room. The room is right on the main street of the town, so easily accessible to all the shops, train, restaurants, walking tracks an waterfront. The room was IMMACULATE! We were only there 4 nights and our towels were changed on the 3rd day. Ivo provided me with his mobile and was more than happy for us to contact him with any questions/issues (although there were none). We got to pick our checkout time, and he allowed us to lock our luggage away for the last afternoon post checkout.

Overall it was an amazing place to stay and I would recommend it to anyone who is willing to climb some stairs!

Our stay was truly amazing! Right from the beginning, Ivo was accomodating, honest, and just the nicest person you'll ever meet. Considering we were in the middle of the heat wave, A/C wasn't needed. The room was always tidy and with both windows open, there was always a mild breeze flowing through. Ivo and his dog, Thelma, met us at the base of the train station and made our check-in very efficient. I would definitely stay at Ivo's Camere again. Overall, a fantastic experience. Btw, I found the beer that his brother has on tap at the pizzeria across the street, was the most refreshing, coldest beverage I could ever ask for!

We enjoyed everything about our one-night stay in Ivo's rooms. The climb up the stairs is extremely steep, so I wouldn't recommend this accommodation for less-than-fit people. The room was clean, well-appointed, pretty, the bathroom was spacious and very clean, beach towels were offered, and the fridge was stocked with a selection of complimentary beverages. We had a clothesline out the window for drying bathing suits and towels, which was much appreciated. Though there is no a/c, the fan and open windows kept the room comfortable in the middle of a VERY hot July. There may not be wifi, but right next door is an internet cafe. Ivo was an excellent host and met us at the station and told us where we could find him or is brother if we needed anything later in our stay. I almost didn't want to post this review, because we plan to reserve at Ivo's again for a longer stay and don't want competition!

The room was clean and had all the necessary things (comfy bed, window, en-suite bathroom, towels, fan, fridge with free drinks). The location is right on the main street, ideally situated. I was in touch with Ivo and his family for arrival and despite experiencing delays, they kindly waited for us at the station. Very kind and welcoming. I would definitely stay here again.

We loved our trip to Cinque Terre! My fiance and I originally planned to stay in Vernazza for 3 nights but as soon as we arrived we extended our stay to 5 nights. After almost a month of backpacking in Europe, this was the first place that we really felt like we were on vacation. The village of Vernazza was still damage from the October 2012 landslide, but it's charm was still there! We were there during sholder season, so it wasnt so busy but still hot and sunny!
When we arrived in Vernazza, it took a few minutes but we just asked any of the locals for Ivo and a minute later he came! We actually enjoyed our lack of internet, as it meant a more peaceful and involved time. The rooms were amazing! We stayed the first 3 nights in the smaller blue room and the last two in the orange room. Both were above what we expected! We loved that the bathrooms were clean, the rooms were sizable and also have clothes lines (a life saver!!). The view from the window was beautiful, not a sea view but a view of the village in all of its colours and character! There was a bit of noise from the street below but it was never disruptive, just typical village sounds and some sounds of construction as the people were still repairing from the slides. We found staying in Vernazza was the best location. It was cheaper and quieter, and was literally minutes to all of the other villages by train. Plus the best hike is between Vernazza and Monterossa! We found Ivo's rooms to be the best money for room that we had all across Europe. It was my favorite part of the trip and I hope to come back soon.
Thanks for everything Ivo!

We stayed in Camere Ivo Basso for one night in August and had an extremely pleasant experience and paid a very fair price. The room was clean and pleasantly decorated, and also came with a stocked "mini bar" of soda, beer, and water, which was perfect after a long trip. All hotels in this area require walking up many stairs, so this accommodation was no different, though Ivo was extremely helpful in carrying mine up all 3 flights. The room is very close to the train station and the trails to the other cities, so it is very convenient for a short stay where every minute counts. Vernazza was lively all times of day, and the restaurants were very good, despite the town being very tiny. The hotel owner, Ivo, was very kind and accommodating, so we were able to check out in the morning leave our bags to pick up in the afteroon, which allowed us to complete all of our hiking goals. I highly recommend the hotel, and staying in Vernazza in particular for a Cinque Terre tour.

Note that it can be a little loud at night due to the location, but this would probably only be a problem for a light sleeper or someone from a very quiet town.
