A perfect accommodation. For a more than perfect local. This was one of the highlites of our time in Italy, and Boma added go that experience. When we return, and we will, this will be our choice, and hopefully yours. Gary and Jo-ell California.

My wife and I spent two nights at il Boma. It's a small B&B located above a butcher shop right in the center of town. If you have a lot of luggage the stairs can be a work out but don't let that keep you away. It's a great place to spend a couple days. We had the room with the balcony which overlooked the main drag. It was very enjoyable sitting out there during the day and late at night watching village life. The room was very clean and modern. The owner Maddy was very helpful. She went out of her way to assist us with train schedules. I would definetly return.

My husband and I stayed 2 nights at Il Boma in Riomaggiore (the 5th town in Cinque Terre). We highly recommend Il Boma! Maddie (the owner) was very responsive on Email prior to our trip, and very helpful with hiking and other information once we were there. There are only 3 rooms and ours was perfect! Easily accessible from the train station. On 3rd floor so not too bad with heavy luggage. Comfortable bed, fine en suite bathroom, balcony overlooking the quaint little town. In room coffee/tea/espresso and croissants/yogurt/biscuits each morning. No English speaking TV but not an issue. The town was amazing! Currently the Lover's Walk (easy hike from town to town) is closed due to a rock slide last month. So we did the much more difficult but awesome hike from Riomaggiore to Manarola, and then from Manarola to Corniglia. 2nd segment took 2.5 hours. The hike up, over and down is challenging (especially up!) but well worth it! SO glad we did it! We then took the train to Vernazza (beautiful!) and Monterosso. We took the ferry boat from Monterosso back to Riomaggiore (highly recommend this as you can view all 5 towns from the sea). Maddy gave us some homemade Limoncello upon our departure. LOVED IL BOMA!

Room Tip: we stayed in the Blue Room which was excellent (didn't see the other two)

I spent two nights here recently and couldn't have been happier with my experience. The place is spotless and well-located for hiking or exploring via ferry and/or train. Maddy was so helpful from the moment I made my reservation online. She sent suggestions for hiking itineraries and answered all my questions promptly and thoroughly. Hauling luggage up the steep street and then three flights of stairs was exhausting, but Maddy was there to help and it was well worth the effort. I stayed in the blue room overlooking the main street. Others have commented on the noise from the street, but I didn't find it to be bad at all. I kept my window open and enjoyed listening to the rhythms of groups of (mostly) older Italians engaged in their evening conversation. I hope I'll be able to go back for a longer visit sometime in the future.

We recently, October 2012, had five days at iLBoma. We had the blue room overlooking the main street. The owners were so helpful with luggage and advice about local restaurants and the history and culture of the five towns. Maddy, who grew up in the US, was so easy to communicate with and fill us in about local news.

Room Tip: There ares excellent Restaurants near your front door and the 'take away' cone of fried seaf...

The B & B is not very hard to find, Maddie gave us good directions, number 99 above the butcher shop! Main street balcony view and all the basic amenities. Comfortable beds and great location. Some steps to second floor, but no problem with luggage.
The real recommendation is that we will stay again when in Riomaggiore.

Room Tip: Get a balcony room to enjoy the morning coffee and the street view.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2012

We stayed 2 nights in early October. The hike up the hill from the train station was a little difficult with luggage, even though we did not have too much with us. Many steps up to the rooms as well. We stayed in the tiniest room, the yellow room, I believe. I knew ahead of time that the bathroom was down the hall, but fiddling with the key during the night was a little annoying. I might have felt more comfortable leaving it unlocked ( since the other rooms had their own bathrooms inside) but the front door to the building lock was not working, so we felt a little funny leaving it unlocked. However, the bathroom was large, comfortable and very clean. The room was clean as well. No balcony, but a great street view. I loved lying on my bed and just gazing up at the pretty buildings and the blue sky outside. Great windows at night really shut out any noises. Ceiling fan was helpful. We loved the Cinque Terre and enjoyed our stay here overall.
