“Delightful stay in Cinque Terre”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2013

Our party of 11 adults stayed 2 nights at Hotel Marina in late September, 2012. We enjoyed the accommodations, staff, and breakfast very much. The location is a wonderful base from which to explore Cinque Terre. The family that runs this hotel has gone to great lengths recovering from the big flood in fall of 2011, and their effort shows. They are helpful, friendly and gracious. We would have enjoyed staying several days if our schedule permitted it. This is a fun, relaxing and pleasant place -- not top luxury, but much more than basic necessities. We recommend it.

When we walked to the hotel, we first picked the wrong one and they were not so friendly but then we got a warm welcome at Albergo Marina.
Our room was nice and we liked hearing and seeing what was going by on the lane below. A lot of Italian. Some might find it a little noisy but it we liked it.
The Albergo has some special features. There is a free kayak you can borrow and we paddled to Vernazza the first night, exploring a cave on the way back. They have a lovely upstairs patio area they call the lemon garden after the lemon trees growing there. It is multiple levels, sunny and shady with a children's play area and some views. They have a room there with every kind of beach equipment you could want, umbrellas, beach mats, inflated matteses, flip flops and snorkeling gear. We snorkeled our second day. Watch out for jelly fish. There was one when we swam back and the kids on the shore warned us.
Our bedroom also has a beach bag with two beach towels so you are all set to enjoy the water which we did every day.
Albergo has someone making omlettes in the morning so the breakfast is much more substantial than we had had everywhere else in Italy.
From 2-5 they serve lunch with a pasta and a choice of sauces. They heat it up for you and there are other sides as well.
We were very happy at our Albergo.

We recently stayed two nights at Albergo Marina and like many other reviewers, the hotel was beyond our expectations. The staff were helpful and friendly, the rooms (albeit simple) were immaculate and well maintained - The hotel is great value for money! Breakfast was also a great addition to an already fantastic offering. I would come back again and would highly recommend to anyone travelling in the area

I really wanted to give this place a higher rating. The couple who run this place are absolutely lovely and clearly want their guests to have a good time. But oh my god, this hotel is SO LOUD.

The walls are paper thin and the floors don't have carpeting. As a result, we heard every word of our neighbors's conversations. The people's shower in the room above us sounded like a waterfall on our heads. Every time the lobby phone rang, it echoed through our room. I barely got any sleep here -- definitely not relaxing.

On the plus side, the breakfast here is amazing. There is a chef who makes request-to-order crepes and omelets.

A fantastic small hotel with great staff who were very friendly and helpful. Rooms were spotlessly clean and quite spacious for 2 friends travelling together. The breakfast included in the price is the best we have had in all of Italy - special mention to the chef who happily cooked omelettes or waffles to order sometimes even delivering them personally to our table.

Something else which was a really nice surprise is that there is a free lunch available from 2pm every day with great pasta and a choice of 2 sauces plus bread and fruit. A great selection of local wines is also available.

We extended our stay as we were enjoying ourselves so much and this did not present a problem to our hosts who kindly even moved our luggage as we had to swap rooms.

Instructions from train station were absolutely spot on and we were able to find the hotel without any problems.

We would recommend this hotel to everyone and would gladly return in a flash.

We stayed here 3 nights and found everything to be beyond our expectations. The owners (husband and wife) and their staff are all very friendly, accommodating and helpful. One staff member, Erica (spelling?) speaks better English than my Italian--she is a delightful young woman and we appreciated all her help. The owner was also quick to assist us. On the day we checked out, our train was not departing until later in the afternoon. There were 5 of us couples with a lot of luggage. The owners stored our luggage and then had it all delivered to the train station for us!

I can't say enough good about the food. Breakfast consisted of various foods to choose from ...included were made-to-order omelets, delicious rolls and to-die-for fruit-filled croissants that I wish I had here! At 2:30 they serve pasta with various sauces you can choose from. Plus wine and beer are available for 1 or 2 Euros.

The rooms were a nice size considering that this is a hotel in Italy. The bathroom was small but the shower worked well with plenty of hot water! The lemon garden was just as it is shown on their website. In fact, the entire hotel is depicted exactly as it is in all photos.

My husband and I along with our friends would definitely recommend this hotel. I would gladly return for another stay!

Great location in Monterosso. It was not a far walk from the train station and the directions on the web site were perfect. The room was a nice size, same with the bathroom. Very clean. The breakfast was the best that we had in Italy and the staff was so kind and helpful. There is limited staff during the evening but we did not run into any problems that could not be solved. One thing that is not advertised is, they also provide a nice lunch after 2:30 pm and try to arrange your day so that you can take advantage of this as it was some of the best pasta I ever ate. This lunch is free. I would highly recommend staying here. Very easy to get to the trails for hiking, the beach is nice and close and so are some great restaurants.
