“Super friendly family run hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

We were recommended Albergo Marina by a friend and it definitely didn't disappoint! We stayed for two nights in August 2012 and couldn't have been happier.

While off the beach you are right in the middle of the old town in Monterosso and close to lots of wonderful restaurants. And nothing is too far apart in Monterosso in any case so getting around was easy.

Marina and her staff were super friendly and more than happy to help with lots of advice as to how to approach the five towns walk. Beach towels being included with the rooms is a really nie touch and was definitely appreciated. As was the airconditioning as it was super hot while we were there.

The breakfast was also delicious (in partciular the omlette which you can either design your own or be surprised!) and plentiful. I would definitely recommend this place to others looking for a beautiful couple of days in cinque terra,

We stayed two nights at the Hotel Albergo Marina in Monterosso and it was a great choice. It is a family run hotel (Marina and Eraldo) but it felt more like family than a typical hotel. The decor is well suited for the area and the rooms are very clean. Each room is equipped with a small refrigerator. The morning breakfasts were delicious and plentiful - made to order omelets and waffles, with meat, cheeses, breads, pastries, fruits, yogurt, juices etc and wonderful tasting coffee. In the afternoon they had a lovely pasta luncheon with your choice of sauces, a salad and some fruit - a very nice touch to the hotel. A great place to stay when visiting this area and will definitely be back one day. A beautiful area to visit. Thanks Marina and Eraldo for making our stay pleasant.

Room Tip: The hotel is located on a quiet street no traffic on the streets - any room would be good.

Hotel Albergo Marina, Monterosso
We stayed 3 nights at this wonderful small family hotel run by Eraldo and Marina who were the most gracious hosts. They take great pride in this affordable hotel – providing helpful information about the beautiful Cinque Terre area. The delicious breakfast featured made-to-order omelets and the afternoon pasta buffet was an enjoyable break. (Not that more food is needed in the home of pesto and foccaccia.) The roof-top lemon garden was an added surprise in this already quaint location. The room was nice and clean but that's not the beauty of this hotel — it's the people. When we arrived, the wheel on our luggage broke, and Eraldo even fixed it for us. If you go, be sure to ask about how hard they worked to get their hotel and town back from the horrible mud-slides a year ago. They have much to be proud of. We left having made new friends and wanting to go back soon.

We were coming to this hotel after a pretty poor lodging experience in Florence and it promptly helped us get back on track! A few things to note:

- Free hot breakfasts daily with omlettes, crepes/ waffles, cappuccino/ expresso, basic baked goods, fruit, etc
- Free midday hot meals of pasta with different sauces (including local pesto)
- Front desk was very helpful and answered all our questions
- 10% discount if paid in cash
- Good in-room WiFi and public computer in lobby

If thinking about booking here, just book it, rest assured that you will have a very comfortable stay, and move on to the next item to plan for your trip (Like parking your car for free on XXV Aprile Street in Levanto all day everyday other than Wednesday). Also, consider the possible money you can save by having the option of two free meals for your entire family each day while staying at the hotel. More gelato for all!

We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay in the nice little hotel. There was a very extensive included breakfast buffet (differed on the two days we were there) but it included the usual cold meats and cheeses, breads, cereals, yogurts and fruits but also home made omelets and crepes made to order one day and waffles and omelets the other. Between 2 and five, they served fresh pasta with a variety of great sauces, fruit, coffee etc.. There was so much delicious food available that you really didn't have to eat out unless you wanted to.

The staff was friendly and helpful (although some staff member's English was quite limited), the rooms were comfortably casual and we enjoyed going up behind the property to see the lemon groves and grape vines (treat for big city folks to see this).

Walking distance to train (10 minutes), beach (5 minutes), restaurants and shops (just a couple of minutes).

Rooms beach casual - not fancy but we had no problem with tv, safe or wifi.

We visited Cinque Terre for 2 nights and stayed at the Albergo Marina. We walked over from the train station in the afternoon, and were pleasantly surprised when we got to our room. I thought it was a good size, with a nice bathroom and a view of the street in front of the hotel. (None of the rooms has a sea view, so we did not expect one.) The breakfast was wonderful, with eggs cooked to order and other nice goodies too.

The room price was right, too (110 euros), and the staff was friendly and helpful (even if their English was not always the best).
The wi-fi in the room was not working too well due to the location, so I had to go to the lobby if I wanted to use my iPad. It was not that big a deal, though. Our safe worked fine, but was not big enough for an iPad. I just carried it with me in my backpack.

We had them do laundry, and it was returned promptly the same afternoon. That cost 15 euros for 6 kg, not bad since we could go touring instead of sitting around at the self-serve laundromat and watching the clothes spin around.

We would go back on our next visit to the area. It was really a nice place to stay.

We stayed for 3 nights at the Albergo Marina in August. We had two very good sized clean rooms for our family of 5. My only complaint would be that they were very dark, and we had lots of problems using the safe (although they were very accommodating and helped us with them several times so not the end of the world). The breakfast in the lemon garden on the rooftop was a great way to start the day with custom omelettes and self serve coffee machine (so no waiting if you needed java). The afternoon "snack" was great with salad, melon and a plate of pasta (one of my children said it was the best pesto he had in Liguria -- and we ate ALOT of pesto). We vastly preferred staying in the old part of Monterosso where this hotel was, close to lots of restaurants and had that authentic feel. Amazing how they have come back from the October 2011 floods which destroyed the area (and ruined the first floor of the hotel). They had all kinds of beach equipment we could use, which was great since who travels with those things? And sitting up on the roof with a bottle of wine one afternoon was so relaxing.
