“Wonderful stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2012

My two sisters, niece and I stayed here for two nights in June. The location, accommodations and staff were outstanding. The view from the room and terrace balconies was like a postcard. The breakfasts and food service staff were friendly, efficient and happy to get whatever we wanted. The rooms were very clean and quiet. You will not be disappointed.

What a wonderful accommodation destination in Monterosso al mare. We stayed 4 nights using our accommodation as a perfect base whilst travelling around the spectacular Cinque Terre.
Matteo and Carla were the perfect hosts in a location with spectacular views and central to the Monterosso scenery. The provided breakfast eaten on the terrace with great views was perfect and the helpful tourist information from Matteo and Carla was superb. We will without hesitation be recommending this special accommodation place to all of our friends yet to travel to Ital

We were fortunate to spend 4 nights here ( June 6-10) to enjoy this lovely, small (only 16 rooms)family run gem! We cannot say enough good things about this hotel. Matteo and Carla are so welcoming, as was Annamaria. Our room (12) was lovely with a balcony on which to sit and enjoy the gorgeous scenery of Monterosso. The bed was very comfortable and the room and bathroom were immaculately clean! The a/c worked great although we did not need it too much since we could open our French doors to enjoy the view and lovely breeze. The hotel sits up high in the old town of Monterosso so we took a cab to the hotel with our luggage from the train station. It cost 10 euros. When we left we walked to the train station as going downhill with luggage was no problem at all. Matteo and Carla put out a wonderful buffet for breakfast each day and will fix a beverage of your choice. I miss having their delicious cappuccino every morning! We enjoyed sitting outside on their breakfast balcony each morning.. It wasa great way to start the day. The hotel also provides a laundry service which we took advantage of... After a day of exploring the other towns of cinque terre, we returned to find our laundry clean and folded in our room. The views from this hotel are awesome and they also have a lovely deck where guests can sit and enjoy the sun and scenery. To walk to the old town from the hotel, guests pass through their beautiful lemon grove where the trees are heavily laden with bright yellow fruit.. There is an abundance of flowers as well making it a pleasant walk to the steps that lead to old
town. Monterosso has worked hard to restore the beauty and quaintness to this wonderful place after the devastating floods last October. We found everyone we encountered welcoming and happy that we had come to see this beautiful
area! I highly recommend Hotel Villa Steno.. I believe it is the best place to stay while visiting 5 terre! Thank you Matteo and Carla.. We had a fabulous time and cannot wait to return! Mike and Gail Wiggins Texas USA

We spent only one night but wish we could have stayed longer. Matteo and Carla are great hosts. The location is perfect. Very quiet and peaceful. The view and the peacefulness is especially nice on the upper terrace, but also from our room and the lobby and breakfast floor. The hotel rises up from an aromatic and beautiful lemon tree garden. The walk up to the hotel is easy and good because it gets you comfortably away from the noise. But fast walk down to the shops, bars, and cafes, including a great seafood restaurant very close by. The breakfast buffet is wonderful and the service and care is great. Monterosso appears to be doing very well since the Oct. 2011 rainstorm, with some rebuilding still going on. Very glad we stayed in Monterosso at the Villa Steno.

What a wonderful place to stay. Matteo, his wife, and staff are wonderful and very helpful. The rooms are very nice with views of gardens, the town, and the sea. There is a lovely terrace above the hotel with beautiful, less restricted views. A great place to relax after a busy day. The breakfast was delicious and plenty to choose from. There is also a laundry service which was needed and appreciated. There are many steps within the hotel and to get into town. That might be a problem for some but we enjoyed walking through the lemon groves and gardens. I would go back tomorrow if I could!

Wonderful little hotel!! This is a great hotel set high on the hillside with amazing views. We had a large suite that was very clean and quiet with a beautiful village/ocean-view terrace. Perfect time of year to go...less crowds and the lemon trees where full of fruit and smelled heavenly! Staff was very helpful and friendly. Lovely, full breakfast which we enjoyed while sitting on the terrace overlooking Monterosso and the Mediterranean....perfect! I hope to go back soon!

This is a beautiful and charming small hotel on top of the hill looking down on the old town of Monterosso. Be warned that you have to like steps! It’s 100 steps down from the hotel to old town, but it’s a lovely walk through the hotel lemon garden. We booked room #15 (it’s one of the rooms with balconies). It was a nice size room, with a spectacular balcony. We had 1 of the lemon trees from the garden right next to our lounge chairs. We also had a table that’s great for enjoying a morning cappuccino or evening glass of wine, while you look out over the lemon garden, old town & ocean. The owners are so friendly and helpful. They make you truly welcome and feel like home. Great buffet breakfast. They have a small parking lot, so you can drive up to the front door and unload your luggage and park if there is room, otherwise parking is a few minutes walk away

Room Tip: Ask for room with balcony so you get the full view of the ocean
