“Great place to stay in Monterosso”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2011

This little bed and breakfast (6 rooms) located up the main street on the old side of Monterosso is a wonderful place to stay. The rooms a very clean and nicely appointed. The breakfast, put out each morning by Giovanni, the owner, has a nice variety and very fresh. The covered terrace over Via Roma Street is a lovely place to relax. The location is away from the noise yet very convenient - the walk from the train station is easy. Definitely worth checking out.

Room Tip: Two suites face the street. The Riomaggiore room also faces the street and is a little bigger than t...

My wife and I stayed at Locanda il Maestrale in Monterosso,(Cinque Terre), in early September 2011. Its a B&B located in the historic and cutiest part of town a 10 minute easy walk away from the railway station and the train noise. We found the B&B easily on the charming narrow main street, Via Roma, which is scattered with delightful small shops and restaurants, catering to the locals and visitors alike.
We enjoyed our three day stay at the B&B, its situated in the heart of the old town within easy reach of any place where you wanted to go made it a wonderful location, I rate it a 5. When we booked we were advise that the only room available was smallest of their six rented rooms, but we found it comfortable with air and a good size bathroom I rated it a 3. Breakfast was excellant, definately above average, served on a large charming patio overlooking the town I rate it a 5. Overall I would definately stay again, although I would try to book earlier and snag a larger room, (we booked six months ahead and other five rooms were already gone). I rate Locanda il Maestrale a 5 for a great stay.

My husband and I stayed in the Vernazza suite for three nights in September. The room has a loft area for the bed with a large fresco on the ceiling. So neat! The owners were wonderful - they were informative and kind. Breakfast was great, and the terrace where you eat was beautiful. Close to the beach and they provide towels. They also offer laundry service - 10 euros for a bag full (which we discovered was an incredible deal). Our clothes came back smelling great and nicely folded - well worth the money! We only wish we had stayed longer.

Locanda Il Maestrale is perfectly located in the old part of Monterosso, a little up from the waterfront, with its beautiful terrace over the main (mostly pedestrian only) road. Our standard double room was fine, and the bathroom was well-designed with fabulous water pressure for a hot shower. Our room and the B&B common areas were conscientiously cleaned each day. WiFi was available in the lobby and on the terrace for Internet access. All these things were excellent, but the really outstanding parts of the experience were the wonderful breakfast lay-outs each morning including freshly-baked tarts and pies and selections of fruit and cereals and coffee (cappuccino, expresso, American) and breads and yogurt and hard/medium/soft boiled eggs, and above all, the friendly, supportive, and effective presence of the owner/managers Giovanni and Stefania, always ready to help in any way they could. Each day we were there we realized how fortunate we were to have selected this B&B and to have been able to get a room (all six rooms were occupied during our nine days there).

We loved our stay at Locanda Il Maestrale in early September and wish we would have had more nights here! The B&B was very clean, updated, bright, and had a delicious breakfast from its very friendly owner. Laundry service was much appreciated as well and it was only a few minute walk from the beach. We would highly recommend this cozy place!

Room Tip: We stayed in room Cinque Terre. While small, it was very clean and updated and it worked well for u...

We loved our stay at Locanda Il Mastrale. For the most part we are not B&B people, but really enjoyed this hotel. It is a beautiful little inn that has recently been completely renovated and restored to an authentic, rustic-chic Italian elegance. We stayed in the Vernazza room, which is one of their suites. The fresco on our bedroom ceiling was a nice touch, as was the delightful terrance where we enjoyed our breakfasts every morning.

The hotel was really good...

Starting from negatives... you will take 15 mins atleast to reach there with your bags... going uphill and downhill... so be ready to pull your bags... not 10 mins... its 15 or more... its tiring for sure...

The rooms are really nice with a lot of space (we were shocked as its double of what we got in venice).... The location is perfect being in centre of old town... the owners were amazing hosts... the rooms and bathrooms were clean.. there is an ATM next door...and restaurants around the hotel... the beach is 5 mins from hotel with beach towels provided...

Good beaches are paid beaches in Monterosso so be ready to shell out money to lie on the beach....

overall, good experience in Cinque Terre and grt stay...
