Wonderful place to experience panoramic views of the Mediterranean and is a truly romantic setting. We loved checking out the small fishing villages that make up the Cinque Terre and watching the sunset over the cliffs and towns and sea was truly breathtaking.

“Beautiful spot, shame about the rude Park staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2013

The gorgeous villages look every bit like the publicity shots and it is certainly a stunning location, but beware the hidden catches. It's extremely crowded even when we were there in June, and random bits of the track are shut for maintenance, and these change every couple of days. This would be ok however in order to buy the much-publicised Cinque Terre ticket, you can only get said ticket from the two park offices either side of the stretch of track that is open. If you happen to turn up between 12.30 and 3 like we did they are shut for lunch so we ended up getting on and off the train ( which is fine as they are generally an hour apart). The other park office staff are rude and can't be bothered helping at all, so we came away feeling under-whelmed, and that the whole place is actually over-rated which is a shame.

“A Spectacular Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2013

Catching a great day with sun and warm temperaturs makes any sight-seeing adventure more successful but the scenery in the Parco Nazionale Cinque Terre is amazing regardless of ideal weather. Experiencing the coast and villages on a boat tour is a great experience and provides a wonderful orientation to allow for more thoughtful exploration at a later time. The train stations in many of the coastal towns allows for a quick way to move efficiently (although without a the sights) between the towns. Taking the opportunity to hike between one or two towns increases the appreciation for the surrounding landscape and sea.

“Taste of Italy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2013

We recently visited Cinque Terre when our ship docked in La Spezia.

We purchased the Cinque Terre Card from the train station & first made our way to Monterosso.
The locals were preparing for a flower festival that day, which was interesting.

The journey was short but the train was quite crowded. We found the first little village very quaint. Although we climbed up to the National Park, decided against doing the trail to the next village.

Unfortunately, the trains didn't always arrive as scheduled & didn't always stop at the next village.
We found that we had to go a little back & forward to see all the villages due to the trains not always arriving to time. However, this added to the fun of the day & made our way back & forth to all the villages.

The trains were quite high off the platform, so could be a little difficult for people with mobility difficulties.

What a lovely place to visit.

If you are not going to visit the National Park you could get a day return ticket cheaper from the ticket office.

Don't forget to validate the ticket before getting the train.
