“Visit to Dolceacqua”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2014

When driving in the Ligurian Riviera, do not miss a visit to Dolceacqua. It is very near to Ventimiglia and it is a beautiful village. The river bridge, the church and, especially, the medieval village are an unforgettable view. Always interesting to hear the story of the local delicacy "michette". Several restaurants to eat. Do not miss the local wine "Rossese", the local grappa and, naturally, the michette!

“A MUST visit place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2013

Can't beleive I was only here last week, what a wonderful little place it is! Full of interest and so beautiful. The 'Donkey Bridge' is fastinating so much history here. Had a cup of coffee in the town square in brilliant sunshine! The people here are very friendly, bought 3 pictures from the local artist very reasonably priced and really lovely. This place is so tranquill a real peace about it. The houses from outside look quite dark and may I say gloomy (to keep them cool) and the wall are extremely thick (also to keep them cool) but inside they are beautiful. Also bought some handmade jewellery here lovely! Only had chance for a half day visit as we were staying in northern Italy for only a week and there are many places to visit, but I shall go back!

“Small but beautiful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2013

Short bus ride from Ventimiglia. Wonderful to see the setting for Monet's painting of the bridge and castle! Nice to have a glass of wine in the central square which looks out on the bridge and castle. Check out the bus timetable, as mid-afternoon there are very few buses for returning to Ventimiglia. Thanks to other reviewers for their tip on purchasing wine there - bought a couple of excellent Italian wines!

“Beautiful bridge”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2013

Don't miss this charming village with its winding medieval streets leading to the castle. This is undergoing restoration at the moment and there are areas roped off. Nevertheless it's worth going for the views. Below, in the valley, is the superb bridge painted by Monet. The little bar in the village square at the foot of the old town serves a pleasant beer with welcome nibbles. Enjoy it all!

“Visit to Dolceacqua, Liguria, Italy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 24, 2013

Dolceacqua is a very beautiful village in the Ligurian Alps. The medieval part of the village is superb. Worth visiting also are nearby villages, such as Isolabona, Apricale and Castelvitorrio. The area has a very good red wine, Rossese, worth trying. It is also very close to Sanremo and Ventimiglia.
