“Perfect Hotel in Trieste for those with a car.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2012

I picked Miramare Hotel from TripAdvisor because it indicated available free parking and breakfast buffet, as well as WiFI. I adored this Hotel! The rooms are compact, like a ship's cabin, but everything else makes up for it! It is nestled between the main road coming into Trieste and the small street that goes to the point of land upon which Castle Miramare sits (walking distance). All rooms face the Adriatic Sea, with a balcony. We slept with the balcony door open to hear the water splashing on the shore. The room and bathroom were clean and modern. Only drawback is that there was very little counter-space in our bathroom, very small closet (with safe and refridgerator... yes!), and the "desk" didn't have any drawers, it was more like a sofa table. The bed was not exceedingly comfy. I was glad to live with the space constraints, as everything else was so perfect! The lady at the reception desk was exceptionally helpful and made our stay extra nice. The "included" breakfast buffet was also very nice: sliced meats, cheese, you could soft or hard boil your own egg, croissants of many varieties, fresh fruit, cereals, breads, coffee, tea, aqua minerale frizzante and non-carbonated. There were a few places to park, but we had no difficulty finding a place to park on the street in front of the hotel. This is the perfect hotel if you're driving into Trieste as it's not in the center of town, but is in a beautiful location. It is just downright charming! I would go back in a heart beat!! Not sure how easy it would be to get around with public transportation...

Room Tip: All rooms face the Adreatic Sea and the sound from the main road behind the hotel is not a problem b...

In general, the comments concerning the geographical situation are correct. Modern and stylish building. All rooms orientated to the sea. Balcony gives an impression you simply could jump down into the water. Magnificent view to Trieste and Miramare. Different room types available. Very beautiful dining room with panoramic view on seaside. Free parking - if you catch one!Breakfast very fine! Unfortunately a smell of kitchen on the floors in the afternoon. Nevertheless, quality address if you want to be outside Trieste (a city a little bit disappointing) and near to the road back to Venice (we came back from a trip to Croatia). I agree with the recent comments of broomie and frenchandparisian or david the banker. It gives in other words the same impression.

Room Tip: Think twice when choosing the one on the 2nd floor with huge marble bath room. You will wetten every...

We have spent one night here this Easter on our way to the middle of Italy.
The hotel is very nicely designed, the common areas as well as the rooms are modern and elegant.

The location is very pleasant right on the beach with a beatiful view of the Bay of Trieste and Miramare Castle is just a short walk away.
Breakfast room is also beautiful, with choice and quality on offer also exceeding our expectations. Some of the pastries were really of the highest quality. We had one complaint: the coffee served at the breakfast was just atrocious, which is a crying shame from a nice hotel in Trieste which is a coffee loving city even by Italian standards.

All in all, very satisfied, will return here on future Italian visits.

My first stay had been in 2005. At that time, I had been put off by the situation and style : looked like cheap constructionm litterally squizzed with a shoe horn between the main road (think high traffic) and the road to Miramare Castle. There was a modern vibe to it, and all rooms were looking towards the front, enjoyed a glorious view over the Gulf of Trieste, most from a balcony, and were perfectly soundproof.

I stayed again in september 2011.

The viez has not changed. Neither has the atmosphere. But the whole thing has been aging, looked like noone cared about basic upkeep. Shower fixtures were loose, partially leaking all over, low water pressure, poor lighting all over, noisy air con, drab looking carpeting.
I slept well, but the place deserves a better treatment.

This is the second time I had stayed at this hotel, whilst judging at the "Barcolana" regatta. We stayed 5 nights. My accommodation arrangements were made by the local yacht club.

It's just great. On arrival I was recognised as having stayed before (three years ago) and made to feel really welcome. The room was beautiful - not very big but superbly laid out. The internet connection in the room was excellent - we didn't have to pay but there was in theory a tariff of 6 euros a day. The TV was great and the free channels were more than adequate - everything from Fox to TV 5 to BBC World.

I didn't feel that the air conditioning was noisy at all although the insulation between rooms is a bit thin - we could hear people coughing next door. The main coast road into Trieste is just behind the hotel, but the double glazed corridors are all on the side which overlooks the road and so the rooms themselves are surprisingly free of traffic noise,

The bed was comfortable, the bathroom well fitted out and the view from the verandah stunning.

Breakfasts were excellent - and again we were made very welcome by the staff. Unfortunately I missed dinner in the hotel this time - we were entertained by our hosts at the yacht club. But the members of our party who for one reason or another had an evening meal at the hotel reported favourably.

It wasn't quite warm enough to swim - swimming is in the sea, there is no beach but the whole sea front is organised with steps or ramps into the sea and fresh water showers every 100 yards or so.

Its a very well run hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a full verandah on the first floor roughly 105 - 110. 110 is on the corner clos...

This is not the most attractive hotel to look at but its position is superb with wide views all across the gulf of Trieste. Only 500 yards to a lovely park and castle.
The bedrooms are small and the air conditioning noisy. But the balcony makes it all worth it.
Excellent restaurant and also breakfasts were of high quality.
Wasn't overimpressed with the bed - had the appearance of a four poster but the posts simply held the mosquito net.

Room Tip: Balcony better than the terraces

We decided to stay in this hotel because we had a car and did not want to deal with parking in the city. We loved the modern nautical theme and our room had direct views of the sea. As you look out towards the sea from your bed, it truly feels like you are on cruise. Rooms and common areas were very clean, front desk was very helpful and we loved the resident cat. Breakfast in hotel's restaurant was fantastic.

Room Tip: Reserve a room with sea views, advise the hotel if you have a car
