“Business Trip in July”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2012

My husband & I stayed at this hotel for 6 nights in mid July 2012 for a series of business meetings. In total our group had 5 rooms. Our room was in the main building (old building) the other 4 were in the newer building away from reception & sort of under the parking area. Our local employee in Trieste was great to have negotiated a good rate for all of us & he was kind enough to hand pick the room that my husband & I had.

The reception staff are very helpful & always try to accommodate your request. We ate a few times at the hotel. First night was very nice, great view. Fresh sea bass was delightful & plated at the table. They did however forget to bring my appetizer but were quick to correct if from the bill. The second meal was lunch with our bigger group. The food was good however once again incorrect orders & timing not in sync. Third meal timing of food was a problem. When they commented that I was still waiting for my main course my husband advised them that since everyone else had finished their meal that I no longer wished to have it. He also advised them that this was now the 3rd time similar problem had occurred. The head waiter was advised & he was very quick to apologize & bring complimentary desserts which were AMAZING. The food is nice at the hotel & I believe they have a great desire to improve the service & are genuinely concerned.

As for the hotel itself. Location is beautiful & quiet with breathtaking views. Rooms in our section of the hotel were very nice with good size bathrooms & toiletries. Beds comfortable. Access to the sea is a great plus & the food & service at the sea is very good. There is a few but one typically expects this in Europe. Location wise it is not within walking distance to Trieste (even though we did do it!) but there is the park area that provides a nice walk if you are up for a few kms. Taxi to the city is about 25 euro.

Only one last item, others in our group were moved to different rooms without notification by the front desk some not once but twice. Given that we were a late booking we do appreciate the hotel accommodating our group & my husband & I had NO issues with this at all. It would have just been nice if the hotel had advised the others of the move. Including items in their safe.

Overall, I do recommend this hotel & would gladly stay again as we travel to Trieste many times throughout the year for business.

“Nice place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2012 via mobile

I stayed here for two nights for a business meeting. Staff were very friendly and the location is really nice albeit somewhat removed from the main city. Room was a bit small but was neat and a really nice balcony with sea view.

“Serene and peaceful location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 18, 2011

Our visit to Trieste was at the end of our vacation after visiting the French Riviera and Venice. It proved to be a lovely, relaxing ending to our trip to Europe.

The hotel is actually made up of three buildings - an older building which you see on the website picture, a new building next to it and another building across the road. It is located on the main road to Trieste but we did not find it to be noisy.

We stayed in the new building and had many conversations while making our reservation about a room with a lovely, unobstructed view. When we checked in, the room seemed small, dark and had a less than desirable view. We decided to pay extra and requested one of the suites with a large balcony. We were very glad we did that as the view was amazing as the sleeping area (a small room off the sitting area) had glass sliders opening to the balcony and the seating area had a wall of windows.

The suite was very clean but sparse with furnishings. What was there was rather old with covers over the sofa. It would have been spectacular with a little update in the decor and some interesting touches such as a small table or chair near the window, some art pieces, etc. The only other issue with the room was that the AC took almost two days to kick in and, since the sun hits this hotel all day, it was quite hot until the AC worked correctly. The bathroom was large, bright and with a state of the art shower. There was plenty of closet space.

Breakfast buffet was excellent - food was well prepared and coffee was delicious. You have the choice of having breakfast indoors or out on the terrace which was beautiful - breathtaking views! We had dinner there a few times and enjoyed our meal and service.

We did not use the beach or the so-called hotel pool which is not a hotel pool at all. It is a public pool. However, we did enjoy walking the path to the harbor beyond the pool area.

In summary, if we return to Trieste sometime in the future, we would definitely stay here. We had a car and did not mind driving into town. Hotels there looked very nice, but very large and definitely did not have the serene view of this hotel.

Room Tip: Higher floor has better views.
