“This was truly special--thank you, Tripadvisor!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2013

We were tired and limited our search that evening to a restaurant with a good Tripadvisor review near our hotel. We were so lucky to get the last unreserved table at 8:00. The dishes of local seafood were just delicious, delicately prepared. Our waitress could not have been more gracious and she helped us choose a fine wine produced on the Karst plateau. This place is in the middle of a residential neighborhood and all the other tables (it's small) seemed to be filled with locals enjoying the end of the work week. If you want to experience authentic Trieste, come here. We would have eater there every night but they were closing for a short vacation!

“Amazing, fresh food and wonderful hospitality”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2013

Had lunch here today at this wonderful local restaurant. The owner of the restaurant is so helpful and friendly and immediately made us feel welcome. There is a small selection of seafood based dishes. The ones we tried were without exception truly exceptional. For entree we had an octopus salad with fresh herbs, potatoes and extra virgin olive oil, and a tuna prosciutto with burrata and eggplant "chips". For main, we had delicious crumbed fresh anchovies fried in extra virgin olive oil and "orate" fish layered with eggplant and delicious tomato sauce. I want to go back tomorrow!!

“Very good food at reasonable prices”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2013 via mobile

An informal and unpretentious Trattoria serving very good food at affordable prices. We went to a more upmarket restaurant the next night and we thought the food was similar to Nero di Seppia in many ways but a lot more expensive at the other restaurant. The other thing we liked about Trattoris Nero di Seppia was the very friendly and helpful young waitress. She was relaxed and confident and she also had a cheerful sense of fun - she taught us a few Italian words and she enjoyed "practising English" with us. So...a wide menu with many traditional favourites - everything was cooked and presented to our liking. Many thanks to the staff for helping to make our stay in Trieste so memorable.

“Fish restaurant with vegetarian options”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2013

It happens very often: I have guests in Trieste and they like to eat fish.
Being vegetarian, this can sometimes be a problem.
Nero di seppia was a nice exception: some very good vegetarian options were available on the menu of the day... :-)
I can't tell you about the fish, but the pasta with artichokes was very, very tasty!
Good desserts, good choice of grappas... recommended!
