“Great location great service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2014 via mobile

We were fortunate to find residence del mare on our last trip to Trieste. The head guy is an absolute gentleman. Rooms good size and it's nice having the kitchen facilities in your room whether they get used or not is another thing. Will definitely be back.

We spent two nights at Residence del Mare in August and enjoyed our stay. The hotel is nice, and our room was quite spacious and very clean. The location is perfect and very convenient, very close to the piazza Unita d'Italia and at about a 15 minutes walk from the Train station. Helpful and friendly staff, and good air con! The only negative aspect is that one of the bed was really hard and not comfortable at all. But overall, we definitely would recommend going there.

The best apartment we have ever stayed in. great staff..apartments huge...air con great....rooms serviced every day...free wi fi. would definately return. the only thing that went wrong is that the hot water went off for a couple of hours. would be even better if they left a bit of milk and coffee fir when you arrive but thats probably expecting too much!this is a superb base and we stayed a week.

Many good points and some bad ones as well. We'd stay there again, though we wouldn't be excited about it.

Good: cheap (64 euro per night for 2 people), central, kitchen equipped nicely. Shutters in the bedroom block out light well which made it easier to sleep. Free wifi, though the signal was not strong except in the kitchen of our little flat. Has an elevator. Great location, many restaurants and groceries nearby. Clean. AC good to have in the summer, stayed cool even when we were out and power was off. Friendly staff. Outside of building is quite pretty.

Bad: generally rather run-down and felt a bit spartan. There was a screw sticking out of the doorframe in kitchen. Bathroom has a really awful smell that seems like mildew (some black mold was visible in shower). Hotplate difficult to figure out, its knobs were totally unmarked, you just have to remember to take note of where they start off! The shower is a crazy-tiny little box in which a tall person can't help bumping knees and elbows; there was often no hot water, the water pressure was not great, and the water temperature changed wildly. Bed is quite hard. There is a lot of street noise. The staircase is lit only by a motion-detected light at the landings, so it was mostly dark and frankly felt dangerous. Towels were scratchy and thin. The TV was out for 2 chunks of our 10-day stay, not a big deal since there were almost no channels in English anyway. The floor above us was annoyingly squeaky.

All in all, it's just fine as an inexpensive stay, but be warned about some of the drawbacks first!

Our friends booked this place for us as green-day the rock band were playing in Trieste and nearly everywhere was full...
We weren't disappointed,in fact it was excellent, central, and helpful staff...
Our rm was like a sml flat, a sml entrance, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom, all open planed(except bathroom) with all the mod con's...
We would'nt hesitate to say here again....

The flat was very well equipped and spotlessly clean. The building is a refurbished old building, with a very nice entrance (se pictures). All receptionists whom we've encountered were very nice and helpful. Internet was free and fast.

View was nice as well from our 5th floor flat, over the rooftops of Trieste and into the distant hills.

Room Tip: get a flat high up otherwise you'll be starting at another building just 5m across the road

Great value at 100€ a night. Snack in the middle of town. God friendly service. Ok beds. Great newly renovated bathroom. Dodgy furniture and the lack of maintenance of room/apartment was a big minus. Walls need some new paint. Etc etc.
