Sadly, we did not stay at this hotel, but stumbled upon their restaurant.

Wow! Great food, great service from a lovely english-speaking waiter. We had seared tuna that was out of this world. Being light eaters, our waiter concocted a plate of grilled vegetables for us to share that was simply done, but so delicious. The hotel looked adorable, but would definitely dine here again!

We cannot recommend this hotel more highly. The service was excellent, the room - a junior suite on the first floor - was a wonder. A huge antique chandelier, and 300+ year old frescos on the wall. It was spacious and very comfortable, quiet with a modern bathroom. Breakfast was well above the standard you may have come to expect in Italian hotels. The restaurant which is attached to the hotel, serves reasonably priced and utterly delicious cooking. If you want to stay away from chains and identikit modern hotels, this will not disappoint.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Albergo Cappello Hotel. The best part was the location, right in the centre of town. We parked the car in a garage very close by and it took no time to walk there. The room was very nice with a comfortable bed and there were plenty of towels in the bathroom. There is lovely restaurant on the premises but this is not run by the hotel, but was still very handy to have so close by. The staff at reception were very helpful, especially one lady. The building itself is very old and atmospheric. There was no noise from the street in our room. The only criticism I can think of was that the breakfast pastries were too sweet! I would recommend this hotel to others.

A mixture. You pay up for being in a fine building with delightful decor, but our room was not at all special; nothing wrong with it. You get the style in the first-floor public rooms. One of them has a kettle with tea makings and biscuits; we had a cuppa in elegant surroundings one afternoon. They'll give you the password to use the computer up there, too. Classy chandeliers in the hallway, which will delight you when you happen to be in the hallway. Breakfast is served in in the elegant room with the kettle, which is delightful, but the breakfast wasn't up to the standard of the surroundings. Very ordinary bread; muesli apparently crossed with cornflakes; jam but no marmalade. One morning the person attending was also trying to run reception downstairs; tricky for her and inconvenient for us. We had better breakfasts in less expensive places.
The staff are charming, if overworked.
Good location in a wonderful city (if you're into Byzantine mosaics: we are, and weren't disappointed).
Verdict: characterful hotel, with some class, but also deficiencies, and overpriced.
