“Reasonable hotel for a reasonable price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2012

The Hotel Residence is situated in a good location in Parma, close to restaurants and the shopping area. There is also on-site parking if required. The staff were friendly and the room was adequate as it was clean with a comfortable bed. The shower cabin was very small though!
The hotel was fine for the rate paid with friendly staff and is ideally located, so I would stay there again.
Enjoy Parma, it is a beautiful place with lovely people :))

I was booked into the hotel for the MSA Euroclassic run, I had chosen it because it had car parking and looked convienent for the end of event dinner at the Grand. When we came to the hotel we found the road it was on was closed all day {from 5am to 10pm} for a street market/carnival so we could not get the car within 1 mile of the hotel. I tried ringing the hotel but they had nobody who could speak English and a couple of stall holders we found who could speak English did not any way we could drive there until the road opened.

The hotel had not warned me about this or told me what to do, so in the end I went somewhere I could park the car at. Needless to say this hotel called this a "no show" and has taken the full price of the room off my credit card. If you book here check you can get to the place.

The hotel was very difficult to find, as usual the directions were a bit vague and assumed that the tourist is familar with Parma. However, that being said--if you look carefully on the roads, there are signs for the hotel ( and other hotels) that if you catch them in time, you can see which direction to go.
There is free, ample parking right at the entrance to the hotel.
There is a large grocery store right next door, and there is a smaller boutiquey kind of food store right across the street--perfect for stocking up on drinks/food etc.
The hotel room itself was 69 euros. More than I like to pay--but there didnt seem to be much of a cheaper option in Parma.
( I was not impressed with Parma at all--and it was not worth the visit IMO)
The hotel room was functional and clean.
The TV had CNN.
The breakfast was kind of horrible --machine coffee and stale pastries....but it did the job. I liked that the cappucino machine was self-help so I could get a larger cappucino finally!
The reception ppl were courteous--one was helpful, one wasnt but still--courteous.
Its TOO FAR TO WALK TO THE SITES OF PARMA--so ignore anyones advice that says its walkable--it really isnt ( if you want to walk around the sites too) however, there are a few buses that go right by the hotel, so thats the best option. Buy your ticket across the street at the shop, and then catch the bus right outside the hotel.
WIth this hotel, you get a good nights sleep in a clean environment....but thats it. Its fine for a night or two.

Hotel Residence is getting a little tired and needs a facelift. Perhaps the owner should try staying here a few nights and then decide if the bathrooms and the mattresses are of an acceptable standard. The shower was particularly poor with about three jets of an out of reach nozzle working and an exhaust fan that rattles so loudly it is like have a noisy generator going every time you turn on the light. Speaking of lights, the hotel proudly shines spotlights on to its exterior at night. Unfortunately these also shine very brightly into bedrooms. When we inquired about using the internet we were told to go to the local bowling alley. The breakfast room is overcrowded with chairs too large for the tables. Also the street is very noisy with lots of traffic. I wish I had something better to say about this hotel as it felt like the staff were trying. The rooms were spacious but the padded, vinyl door to the room a little odd to get used to (could never hear anyone knocking on it). A facelift would do wonders. Until then perhaps a two star rating is more appropriate.
