We spent a week based in this hotel visiting all the Verdi sights in the area and in Milan. The day we arrived, I unknowingly locked the car key in our rental. The very next morning we had a tour at the Villa Verdi. The Donati family, who run the hotel, were life-savers. They drove us out to the Villa the next morning. While we were at the Villa, they had a mechanic open the car and retrieve the key. They picked us up, returned us to the hotel, and we were all set to go with the car. What a relief!
The hotel has a full restaurant and bar on the first floor and 20 rooms on the next 2 floors. We enjoyed our room on the top floor which overlooked the tree-filled Piazza. The hotel is situated equidistant from the center of town (with most of the Verdi sights) and the train station (which we used to commute to Milan)-- about 2 city blocks each way.
The room was spacious, clean and airy, and with a refrigerator, phone, and TV. The bathroom was immaculate with shower (no bath). The new windows are double-paned so completely quiet when closed, but we kept them open for the beautiful May breezes.
Roberto Donati speaks English. I had to search long and hard to find accommodations at under 100 euros per night, and this hotel suited us very well. We will long remember the friendly and helpful staff and Donati family. If you are visiting "Terre Verdiane" this is an excellent choice.
