For our first night in Bologna we chose this Osteria on the recommendation of Roberto from Antica Residenza d'Azeglio. The restaurant is located in one of those portico covered streets of this fascinating city. It's a family run business with both owners (husband and wife) in the restaurant taking your orders and serving you, making sure everything is prepared to your liking. As we often do in Italy, we asked the owners for their recommended dishes. We were served La Traviata's typical appetizer with mostly deep fried vegetables, mushrooms and greens, their handmade pasta (tortellini and gnocchi), and their mascarpone and gelato. Everything was top notch, delicious and oh, so fresh! We enjoyed our dinner. The restaurant was mostly filled with locals. If you go around 8:30-9:00 pm, you can get ideas from locals. They know what to order in this restaurant. Everything I saw them order looked outstanding. I'd love to go there again but there are so many more places I'd love to visit in Italy, I doubt I'll make it to Bologna any time soon. If and when I do, I hope La Traviata is in business and keeps up the high standard. You don't have to pay through the nose to experience great cooking of Emilia-Romagna. Just go to La Traviata, and you'll be happy.
