“Hotel Centro Turistico Citta di Bologna”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2014

A friend and I stayed for 4 nights at Hotel Centro Turistico Citta di Bologna. We stayed in one of the chalets, had a double bed which was comfy. There was a fridge which was useful but it could do with a kettle. Hot water in the shower took quite a few minutes to come through. Also the shower head rarely stayed still as the pipe attached to it was damaged and bent. A cleaner comes and puts fresh towels in bathroom everyday. There were little safes located in reception where you could store valuables at no extra cost.

Hotel Centro Turistico Citta di Bologna is located quite a way from the city centre, bus 68 leaves from outside reception (every 2 hours - 9am, 11am, 1pm etc.) which goes to Bus Station (near train station) and Millie (end stop) which is then a 10-15 minute walk from the centre. There was also bus 25 (stop was called Dozza) that was located 10-15 minute walk away through country lanes that was a lot more frequent and ran till a lot later too. It stopped at Bologna Centrale train station and stops closer to the centre.

One of the guys on reception was very rude and had completely the wrong attitude for that kind of job. You're allowed 15 minutes wifi a day otherwise its €2 an hour which seems extreme considering they claim they are always busy and full so they could I'm sure lower the cost or make it free.

Overall, I wouldn't recommend staying at Hotel Centro Turistico Citta di Bologna and personally wouldn't stay there again if I was to ever visit Bologna again. It's just too remote and not very good value for money.

I had the chance to return to this place for one more time.I believe is one of the best I have been.
After visiting in both summer and winter I am now more than sure that this is a great Camping with the options of clean nice rooms with almost all the amenities that some one may want while on the road

Don't stay here!!!!!!

The Staff were incredibly rude, treated us like filth and sold us bus tickets at a knocked up price and didn't think it was important to mention construction work going on in the centre which meant the bus was on a diversion and didn't go right into the centre.

The place it self resembled a prison camp more than a campsite.

The location of the place is in the countryside which is quite nice but quite away from the city centre (you need the bus)

The Value was horrendous. We had been travelling around campsites and hostels for two months this was not only the most expensive but also the worst there are so many amazing places out there that make this one an embarrassment. In the answers to other reviews the management says they have over 600 guests at times if they all paid what we paid (the minimum you can pay for just a person and a tent) that means they're making over 10,000euros a night and for a place making that sort of money i'd expect a bit more friendliness from the staff.

The only redeeming feature of this campsite was a pizza we bought from the restaurant and took back to our tent to eat. It was very nice and the young guy who served us in the restaurant was actually nice and friendly.

If this review is anything like the others I'm sure the management are going to write underneath maybe apologising for the rude staff and saying how the website clearly states blah blah blah but they could save themselves a lot of time by just being a bit more friendly when the guests are actually there. And as for the good reviews this place has been getting i don't know what those people have been smoking. Spend a bit more money and stay in the centre!!

For the price it was fine. Chalet was air conditioned, clean and the bathroom was good. Pizzeria was good. Pool was excellent. The direct bus was really unreliable for us but the 25 drops you of at the end of the road about 15 minutes away. Bologna was not the nicest of places to visit and for anyone travelling around like I was, there are much nicer places to visit.

Wow, we are still recovering... The last two days we wanted to stay close to Bologna and something with a swimming pool for the kids. Well... we managed.... but what a horrible place. When you leave the highway, you will be welcomed on the first roundabout by a few prostitutes... Eehh, that's not very nice when you have your children on the back seat. And this was daytime! After taking small roads bertween industrial areas and more roundabouts, you will arrive at the camping after three or four kilometers or so. I don't think I would have found it without a GPS.

The camping, with small houses and mobile homes is designed by a someone without any taste or knowledge of camp sites. We booked for one night one of the coupled houses and actually they have the same design as those small houses that you find on typical Italian cemetries. Inside it's warm and dark, but there is quite some space inside. Just outside them you won't find anything to relax like some chairs or a bench, let alone a table.

Reception desk is helpful, but it is rather a business than a friendly family camping. The pool also takes a siesta between 2 and 3.30pm! What? That's the time when I would like to swim or relax! And it opens the morning only at 10am. The 'restaurant' is simply ugly and located in a corridor covered with plastic between two long brick buildings.

Well, is there nothing good about this camping? Yes, it's location and that's probably why most people with chose it. The centre of Bologna is about 4 km away and the camping has a direct bus line from its parking lot to Bologna centre. Tickets are sold at the reception.

This is a totally fine and comfortable place to stay, and the staff are pleasant enough. It cost me 15 euros in a taxi from the airport, and even though I arrived waaaay to early to check in, they were happy enough to check me in anyway (lucky for me my room was ready!). I booked one bed in a six-bed dorm, only to have the whole cabin to myself anyway because there was no one else there! No complaints from me. Bus comes every 2 hours which is fine, also no complaints there. Wifi costs 2 euros per hour but it would not work from my room - I had to sit in reception or at the bar to use it. You can also only use the username and password on one device. There was also a carnival of sorts nearby which I could hear from my room, but I was too jet lagged for it to bother me that much. Also they ask to hold onto your passport which I wasn't particularly ok with, but it was only one night so I let it slide. Also they ask you to hand your keys in at reception every time you leave which isn't really a bad idea, but I didn't worry about it and they didn't seem to care/didn't realise. Shower flooded a bit and also the six-bedroom dorm was VERY cramped - if there was anyone else in my room I would have had to put all my stuff in the lounge/kitchen area. Luckily I could use one of the many beds for my suitcase etc. - no room to walk around otherwise. Also, breakfast is a dry croissant.

I stayed here in May with a couple of friends for one night in one of the cabins. Reception were friendly and gave us maps of bologna and gave us information about buses etc. Accommodation was clean and secure. Only downside is that accommodation is a 15-20 minute bus ride away from the city centre. Buses leave from outside the campsite but only come once every hour and the last bus leaves the city centre at 8.30pm. There are other buses you can get that drop you off on the main road but that is a 10-15 minute walk along a country road so maybe not the best option! We only stayed for a night as Bologna was a stopover place for us, if you were wanting to stay longer it might be more convenient to find somewhere with better transport links to city centre.

Overall, very happy with our short stay here and apart from location cannot fault it!
