“Bolognese fast food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2013

We had lunch here and it feels like a fast food restaurant, except that they serve good coffee.
We had Insalatatone di pollo, bread and mineral water plus coffee.
The “pollo” consists of slices of cooked chicken meat rolls, nicely seasoned served with a very large salad.
The restaurant was very busy and we were lucky to get a table.
We found strange that they charge servizio, at 2 Euros per person, when you have to order at the register and all they do is bring you a plate. I suppose they give you bread.
Good place for a quick meal and to watch the locals.

“Great balls of .......... Whatever you fancy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2013

The reviews of this restaurant have been a bit mean, I feel. We thought this was a well priced local restaurant with an interesting array of "balls" on offer. My spinach and ricotta balls were coated with nuts and were very tasty, as were the meaty versions chosen by my husband and daughter. The clientele here appeared to be mostly young and it had quite a lively atmosphere. This is a modern restaurant and different from a lot of the staid offerings in Bologna. We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening and although on the via San Stefano it is not even as far as the Church complex so hardly a trek from the centre. This area of Bologna has a good selection of well patronised cafes and this restaurant complements the local area which appears young and vibrant.

“Are you really sure you want to eat here????”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2013

I went for the first time in Bolpette for lunch and wished I haden't bothered. "Customer care" is not in thier dictonary especially if you have a food allergy (cheese!!!) The lady at the entrance want to be sure you will stay and gets you a table as quick as possible before you can undertsand that is not the place to eat. Dealing with an allergy could be letal for some people. Staff don't have any idea of what is in the food they are serving and you don't have any confidence in what they say. The conseguence being a ruined rest of the day which could and should have been avoided! They have to understand that a good business is mostly based on returning customer and they feedback. I will never be back again in such a prententious place with no attention to deatils.

“Modern in Bologna”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013

I've been to Bologna nearly a dozen times in the past ten years. Been to just about every great restaurant the city has to offer. The food in Bologna is heavenly. However, as is typical in Italy, the focus on local ingredients and tradition tend to make them all seem a bit similar. Also, most have been around for years and the decor hasn't changed a bit.

So Bolpetta offers a change of pace, a twist on the usual. It's young, energetic and bright. it's located right next to one of Bologna's Oldest Palaces of fine dining Pappagallo but couldn't be more different. Food is a modern interpretation of traditional Bolognese cuisine and prices, as with most places in Bologna are quite reasonable.

If you are looking for a change of pace in a traditional dining city, this is for you. As with all restaurants in Italy, book ahead, it shows respect.

“Meatballs”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 14, 2013

The name is program: polpetta means meatball in Italian, Bolpetta - Bologna meatballs - and that's what you find on the menu: meatballs in all different tastes, even with fishballs and vegetarian balls. The place is new, modern and popular, located on via Santo Stefano, close to the towers), the open kitchen allows to watch the preparation and cooking . Decent pricing (between 7-10 euro per dish), excellent open wines and attentive staff.
