I have stayed in Bologna on several previous occasions but was only visiting for one night this time before taking the train to Parma the next afternoon. It was baking hot (around 36 centrigrade)and very humid that day, and the excellent air conditioning in our "executive" room was desperately needed. The room was on the top floor (7th) and was large and well appointed. I am not a great fan of the funky bright orange and minimalist/Japanese style decor of the hotel but the beds were comfortable (a little on the "firm" side actually), good quality toiletries, and what was very important was the quietness - no external noise from other rooms or from outside, despite being on the busiest street in Bologna. The breakfast room was terribly hot, - they had obviously given up trying to cool it down as it was all glass and facing the full sun, with some outside seating which would have been nice on a cooler day but where the metal bits on the seats/umbrellas were so hot they burnt my hand when I touched them! But they had a nice fresh fruit salad - though the cheese and ham stuff was all curling in the heat! Indifferent coffee, which is a shame. The receptionist Rita was very helpful and pleasant, very efficient and gave us advice about using the railway station opposite and different types of train running the Bologna - Parma - Milan route. All in all I thought it was a good hotel and would stay there again.

Room Tip: Rooms high up and facing centre courtyard are very quiet.

the UNA hotel has pluses and minuses. On the plus side, it has a "mod" hot orange decor, decent sized bathroom and free wifi for an hour a day and the windows are double-glazed as our room facing the Main Street was quiet. On the minus side,. the breakfast room was okay, not the best on our trip and the "one cup"coffee machine made for lines of jet-lagged travelers. Also, there was no mirror except for the bathroom, which made it difficult for two people getting ready to go out.

Good place to stay. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Reasonably priced for a weekend at the beginning of the summer. The neighborhood is nice and the rooms are quiet despite being across from the train station. Good breakfast with a lot of choices. Better than a nearby 3-star hotel we stayed in.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2013

Its a "nothing special" hotel, clean, kind of modern opposite to central station, quite big rooms but:
I think is closer to a 3 star than a 4 star, something quite common in Italy where the average quality is lower there than in other countries.
The wifi charges are ridiculous for a hotel decorated with HTTP addresses all over, even over my bed, and that it tries to look so modern. They even charge to check internet in the two local computers they have located next to reception...
Buffet breakfast is quite plain and boring, nothing special.
Rooms are big but nothing special, minimalistic design.
Very modern outlook quite old television.
The air conditioner didn't seem to work well or I didn't figure out how it worked. It was very hot in the room despite lowering the temperature in the air conditioner to 18 degrees. In the end my third night i ended up switching it off and sleeping with the window open. It was colder that way. Luckily the room didn't overlook the main street, otherwise it would have been very noisy
If i went back to Bologna I would try to stay in a hotel with wifi included or free.

The Hotel is well situated in the centre of Bologna and is nicely appointed. Rooms are spacious and reasonably good. Breakfast is buffet style and plenty of choice. Only down side are the wi-fi charges - €25.00 per night. You get an upgraded room in the process and free mini-bar, but trying to justify €75.00 for 3 days internet is difficult on expenses and downright extortionate.

I have stayed at the Una Hotel twice a year for many years and did so again last week. It is a consistently clean, good hotel. The rooms are more modern than most you find in Italy. They are clean and well maintained. The room rates are crazy high around the show time that I go for but so are all hotels at that time. The hotel is across from the train station so very easy to walk to even with lots of luggage. Also, very easy to walk to shopping. The front desk is usually helpful with any requests, (dining recommendations, direction, etc...).

Room Tip: The sixth floor rooms have tile floors. Depending on your viewpoint this could be a good or bad thin...
