We recently returned from a 3 night stay here. The location of the hotel is down various backstreets that get increasingly smaller! Although just off one of the piazzas, the hotel was very quiet. The staff couldn't have been more helpful, whether it was recommending a restaurant, providing a coffee before bedtime, or storing our case on the day of departure.

We paid 20 euros extra per night to get a room with a small balcony, so we had a room on the 4th floor with a view of the hills behind Bologna. The roof terrace on 5th floor looked great, and I imagine it would be enjoyable sitting up there with a drink later on in the summer.

If you want a good old-fashioned trattoria, try Trattoria Trebbi on Via Solferino. They have a fantastic buffet. It's not posh at all, looks like someone's old dining room. It would be helpful if you speak Italian, but we muddled through. The tiramisu is fantastic!

“A good choice”

Hotel Touring

Mar 26, 2008

This hotel is a good choice for tourists, it is located convenient for the major attractions and in a quiet position. With only 38 rooms you are not just a number and the staff we met were all kind and helpful.
The rooms are different in size and some of them have there own balcony with a nice view. Rooms on 4 th. floor are the best choice. Our room, 440, was nice and adequate in size. The room had the facilities you should expect in a 3* hotel. the inroom safe is not electronic so remember to get the key (it is free) when you check in.
Brekfastroom is in the basement and was a plesant surprise when you take in consideration that we are in an italian 3* hotel. See for yourself in the pictures I have uploaded.
We paid 119 Euro incl. breakfast and 20 Euro to have a room with balcony and view. Booked the room directly though hotel website.
The roof terrace is an attraction itself and must be nice a warm summerevening.
Hotel offers private car to airport but it is not a good deal. It was 25 Euro and we paid 18 Euro for at taxi.
Next time we visit Bologna we would definely choose Touring again.

i was at the hotel touring for a few days and in general it wasn't an unpleasant experience. elena, one of the hotel staff, was especially nice, and the man that helped me when i first arrived gave me the name of a good restaurant nearby. the room was ok and kind of small but had a nice bathroom and had french doors which opened to a roof for fresh air. the only problem from my point of view is that the hotel tries to make money off everything. when i asked where i could buy an umbrella they had one for sale, 10 euros. the internet is six euros for a half hour, when i asked them if they would call a hotel for me in parma for a reservation they said no, i could call myself. when i asked how much it costs to call they said it depends. when i said how much is it to send a fax they said six euros. most of the time when i walked by the front desk it seemed like an argument or disagreement was going on with someone. they make you wait while they argue. but it's a good location in bologna, clean, good breakfast, and not too expensive.

“Um... strange”

Hotel Touring

Oct 23, 2007

The Touring hotel is small and on a side street. If you need to be in Bologna its not awful, but not great. The staff was nice but had strange rules. First, the rooms were small and not well laid-out. Second, there was AC in the room but because it was October THEY REMOVED THE REMOTE SO YOU COULDN'T USE IT. Um, what? It was hot and muggy and we opened the windows but couldn't get a cross-breeze. If we're paying for a room with AC, shouldn't we be entitled to use it? Worst of all, though, was that they tried to charge us 10 euros for a towel. To use, not buy. We were 2 in the room and there was only 1 towel, so we called down and asked for 2, thinking that we could use the extra as well. They told us we were only entitled to ONE EACH and they would charge us E10 for the extra one. On what planet is this appropriate?!?! Still, the girl was pleasant, just a weird hotel. If you have to go to Bologna (which isn't that great, in and of itself, frankly) then you could probably find a worse hotel but I'm convinced you can find a lot better.

Great hotel with superb staff. Room was fine but highlight was balcony overlooking Bologna. Excellent location -- near center of city but not right in center; very close to the fabulous Basilica di San Domenico. Hotel's quirks like tiny elevator remind you that you are on an Italian adventure. Air conditioning worked fine in our room. Folks working the front desk are extremely friendly and will go out of their way to be helpful. Recommend the Hotel Touring to anyone wanting a very pleasant stay in Bologna.
