This may be an impressive place of worship with interesting art but our main interest was to see the image of the sun crossing the meridian set in the marble floor at about midday, giving the date. The spectacle occurred at about 12.30 when we visited in February and we were a bit confused by the date until we realised that the numbers are not the actual date. Obviously, you need a sunny day.
The scaffolding for the renovation work also gives acces to a platform giving views over the city and the experience is well worth the small fee.
