“Nice hotel close to central station”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2012

Had a nice stay in this hotel which is about 25 minutes walk to the centre of bologna and 10 minutes from the central station. The staff was helpful. We were given a free upgrade to a suite and found the room very nice and clean. The tv was not working but the rest was all great. Would certainly stay here again.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2012

We stayed at this lovely hotel from 14 to 17 February 2012. On arrival, we were greeted by really welcoming and helpful reception staff, who checked us in within minutes! Our double room was really clean and very quirky! The hotel is situated down a side street, but is no more than a 10 minute walk into the centre of Bologna. Even though there had been an enormous amount of snowfall the week before, nothing seems to stop Bologna and everything was operating as normal. Breakfast was superb, not just continental but hot food as well. Anyone who comments on there not being enough choice for breakfast, needs their head examining! I've never seen so much!

We would have no hesitation in returning to this smashing hotel. All the staff were really helpful and friendly and made us feel very welcome. Please don't be put off by the few negative comments made by some of the other reviewers. There's nothing we could say about the Il Guercino apart from thank you for a lovely stay!

Not much more than 10 minutes from the train station. Many shops nearby with a good variety of places to eat. Friendly English speaking staff who advised us of what to see in Bologna and how to get there and even arranged a free 2 hour tour of the historical centre of town. Very comfortable rooms, good breakfast & free wi-fi. Would not hesitate in staying here again or advising anybody else to do the same. Absolutely great value for the price.
Our only regret was that 3 days wasn't enough and the time flew too quickly.

We arrived in Bologna in the worst snowstorm in 30 years and were welcomed and assisted by the fine staff at Hotel Guercino even though we arrived by train at 9:30 am. Our room was available at that hour and the staff was most helpful with local information and transportation. They appeared to be unruffled by what was clearly a huge challenge for the city.
The room was just what we needed as a refuge and the amenities were excellent. The breakfast was abundant and varied. We hope to return in fair weather and appreciate the outdoor areas as well. Internet was flawless. Many features of this hotel are of the quality that make it a top rated hotel in our experience.

Room Tip: The room we had was great. Noise levels from other guests was noticeable but probably not preventab...

Well located hotel, no more than 10 minutes walk from the train station and 20 minutes walk to the main square, with lots of lovely shops on the way. Easily found thanks to the directions on the hotels website. All staff were very welcoming, friendly, informative and efficient. The hotel itself was quite quirky, warm, homely and clean. Our room was small, but with everything we needed with spare pillows and blankets if required. The bathroom looked newly decorated with an excellent power shower and hair dryer. All very clean and tidy. Breakfast was buffet style, plentiful and a great selection, from biscuits, cakes, yogurts, fruit and cereals to cold meats, cheeses, eggs and bacon. There was a gym and spa and also a lounge area downstairs with free wifi. We had a very enjoyable stay and would certainly reccommend this hotel.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2012 via mobile

Our family of 4 had two double rooms and paid extra for breakfast and to house the car but turned out to be great value and a really useful location. Very helpful service, a nice little fitness centre and very clean and stylish rooms. My only complaint was the thin walls and very noisy neighbor on the phone all the time. Would definitely recommend.
