“Perfect location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 days ago NEW

Besides having perfect location just outside Piazza Maggiore this hotel has excellent service, good beds and a very good breakfast. They also could recommend several typically Italian restaurants with excellent food which we would never have found otherwise.

Super location in the centre of Bologna. This is a nice historic hotel, the staff team were super helpful and friendly. Wonderful breakfast. 20 min walk to train station which is very easy. Could be maybe a bit noisy in summer as you are in the heart of the city but worth it for the position. Would recommend.

Great spot well located in historic centre. Gave us easy access to all the key sites. People of Bologna very friendly and this was reflected in the courteous and professional staff at the Orologio.
Room was a good size spotlessly clean and with a very comfortable bed.
Can't go wrong with this choice.

We loved this hotel. We were hesitant to book within the limited driving zone but everything went flawlessly. We drove in straight to the hotel and the butler pointed us around the corner to a shared garage. It was like the 8th wonder of the world to see how they fit cars in there (they do it for you, nothing to worry about). The room was beautiful - not big, but not too small. The concierge helped us bring our bags up, and I don't think I really noticed walking up to the elevator, but my boyfriend probably did. The bathroom was gorgeous, lots of marble everywhere. This was one of the pricier hotels on our trip throughout Italy, but I think it was worth it. Our room was not in the range others are reporting (we paid about 75% of what Footsteps11 reported, not sure if it just wasn't a peak night). Breakfast was very good - it basically was great everywhere we went, but this breakfast was in a picturesque common room. We felt special to be there. If I come to Bologna again (which I would!), I would stay here in a heartbeat - and I am more of the traveling type who likes to try new things each time I travel. I just can't imagine the location getting any better than this. You literally walk right onto the Piazza which is pleasantly humming with people all day and evening. Check out my other Bologna review for one of the best restaurants meals of your life - no exaggeration.
My only negative comment was that the host who welcomed us (male) was lovely, but the female who checked us out was cold. I do not think she is in the right position for her strengths :)

Room Tip: Our room was great - open to the square, but unfortunately, I don't remember the floor.

The staff was so wonderful I sometimes wished I could simply hang out with them and chat. Spotless, comfortable room, large bathroom (we had a deluxe). Wide selection of breakfast foods and lots of fresh fruit. Walking distance (for us, ages 60 & 66) to everything we wanted in Bologna. Took a taxi from the train station, but after that simply walked to it. Bologna is wonderful--little touristed, less expensive than Florence etc., and has a lively student population that means great cafes and bars, great street performances, everything. It is also a great base for day trips to places such as Ravenna, Parma, Modena, or even Milan. The only glitch during our stay was wifi outage, but that was handled so well by the front desk that I was almost glad it happened.

Room Tip: Spend the few more euros for a deluxe room, if you can. Ask for a high room - we were on the 4 th f...

Fantastic location literally steps away from the main town square area around Piazza Maggiore (and San Petronio Church). Drawbacks are that rooms are small and you need to walk up 2 flights of stairs to get to elevator. Don’t expect luxury but service is thoughtful and for EUR 200 range, this is good value in the middle of town.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the main street, because it is diagonally adjacent to Piazza Maggiore, can be noisy if...

Torni presto a trovarci!

Just steps from Piazza Maggiore it is impossible to find a more centrally located hotel in Bologna. A small boutique hotel the rooms have comfortable beds and good bathrooms – a few more coat hangers and a chest of drawers wouldn’t go amiss but we managed fine without! The highlight was breakfast, plenty of fresh fruit, proper fruit juices – so rare in Italy, as well as a good selection of cheeses, meats, breads and mouth watering cakes elegantly presented and always well stocked. The staff were helpful and friendly, having decided to revisit this great city this will certainly be our first choice hotel.
