“One of the best restaurants in Bologna..if not the best :)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2012

At the Satyricon restaurant you can be sure of excellent quality and service.
The variety of dishes is quite large and the food is just delicious. If you're interested in trying real Italian home made food then this is the right restaurant. The owners are lovely and more than happy to give you information on the dishes and the preparation and origin of the food. Try it!

“Best in Bologna! Food, atmosphere and service - excellent!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2012

Osteria Satyricon is located slightly out of the city centre in the area of Murri... its about 10 minutes in a taxi from the centre - and if you do anything while you are in Bologna - you need to dine in this restaurant!!

My boyfriend and I moved to Bologna last year and luckily found it by chance as its near to where we have been living. We have taken all our visitors and recommend it to everyone and have been about 5/6 times... and we have never been disappointed!

From the creative antipasti selections to the fresh home-made pasta and the specials menu are always different and so very tasty, along with the main menu which has your traditional Italian treats, such as Ragu, Passetelli and lasagne. The secondi dishes are also delicious and the wine list is very reasonable - you can get a very good wine for 10Euros. Also their desserts are always a treat to end the evening.

The restaurant has a lovely quirky atmosphere with wine and whisky bottles as candle holders, the lighting is perfect and I love the fact that when you order or get the translation dictionary you hear where the recipe if from - for example "Grandmas jams, my dad's salami and their home-made liquorice digestive" - it all makes for the wonderful atmosphere that rounds up a REAL Italian experience. The owners are very very friendly and their service is second to none - they know how to run a popular restaurant!

I would recommend to book as it is a popular restaurant with locals and you can dine from 7.30pm. Enjoy!

“Great!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2011

We're from Chesterfield, United Kingdom and we've appreciated very much this typical Italian restaurant. We have been in Bologna for one week having three dinners there. Polite service and special traditional dishes..expecially hand-made pasta such as tagliatelle with meat and tortellini ..... Really raccomended!

“Incredible food, funky and quirky decor, brilliant staff... a gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2011

We just moved to Bologna and were looking for a restaurant to celebrate my birthday. Osteria Satyricon is very near our new place, and having passed by a couple of times decided to give it a go knowing absolutely nothing about it, and are very happy that we did.

The staff are extremely friendly and helpful - we don't speak Italiano (yet) and we had every dish explained to us. They even gave us a food dictionary to help us work out the menu!

The food was beyond delicious and in perfect portions which allowed us to have an anti-pasti, primi and share a secondi.

The local liquorice digestif was incredible.

And to top it all the bill was much less than we have payed in other Bologna eateries with less character and quality.

We will be back!

“A simply must try when in Bologna”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2011

We live in North Italy and make it out to Bologna every now and again. I'm catching up on recent reviews and noticed there are no English reviews for this absolutely stunning restaurant, which is a known gem among locals in Bologna (it receives highest marks on the Italian 'yelp' counterpart 'due spadi').
The food is based on / inspired by the local cuisine but also goes well beyond it. The cold cut / salami plate is based on meats prepared by the family of the owner and are of amazing quality. The night we were there we felt experimental, and had Tuna Tartar (she) and a Filet-based hamburger (!) which simply melted in the mouth. The Souffle beat Morton's..
The atmosphere is (incredibly) cross age. Mainly couples, but also 40+ folks with kids, retirees, and hip looking couples.

Prices are very fair, and we were actually surprised at how inexpensive the overall bill came up to.

We estimate it's about a 11Euro cab ride from around the city center, or you can get there with bus #13.
