“Italian cooking with a twist”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2013

Came here on recommendation of our hotel. Very unprepossessing on the outside, made more so by local building works and scaffolding. Staff are friendly, and most have some English. Menu interesting ( try the tortellini in chicken broth, just the ticket if, like me, you've somewhat over eaten in this wonderful city!) spouse had fried quail eggs with white truffle and asparagus and bacon. Sounds quite a concoction, but was pronounced delicious. Very nice wine chosen on recommendation of waitress. Slightly pricey for what we ate, but recommended nonetheless.

“Fine dining in Bolona”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2013

A plate of parma ham, mortadella and beef with crunchy pickled veg to start was lovely. The lamb cutlet was impressive for main and could have been cut with a spoon. And the panna cotta with passion fruit was very nice indeed! good service throughout. The experience was slightly marred by a group on another table playing videos on their phone and laughing loudly, much to the disgust of the other diners. Nevertheless a very good restaurant.

“A bit of an (expensive) disappointment”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2013

Restaurant has a nice setting, but the food was certainly below par, and the service indifferent. Food was nicely presented, pretentious, without accompanying vegetables or the like. The beef tartar amounted to a dollop of ground beef with a salad leafy on top... no onion, capers or egg... Most of the 8 members of our group grumbled, and opted not to leave a tip. At one point this restaurant might have had a well deserved reputation, but no more.

The food was beautifully prepared and presented. Reasonable wines by the glass. Staff professional. Great pasta.

“Excellent food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2013

You might miss Caminetto d’Oro if you are not looking for it. It’s in a little street, right off Independenzia Avenue. I found reviews for this restaurant on the web, checked it’s site and decided to go for it.

The staff was very attentive and the atmosphere delightful. We were greeted with an amuse bouche of leak and potato soup which was velvety and very tasty. We continued with the salad with zucchini, green apple, parmesan and wine vinegar and a selection of cold cuts followed by the tagliatelle with bolognese ragu and the tortellini in the chicken broth. Everything was delicious with great presentation and executed wonderfully.

For dessert we had the most amazing semifredo!

The quality was excellent and the service unpretentious and caring; I highly recommend Caminetto d’oro.
