What a great place to see and the gardens are fantastic. It's amazing place and just a day trip from Rome. I strongly suggest going with a tour group.

“Really pretty site.....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2012

Worth going to...we got away from the crowds of Rome....

Hire a driver...so you can visit other sites nearby...such as Hadrian's Villa...traveling between the two is not easy in my opinion...

“Beautiful place.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2012

This is a beautiful example of what Italy is all about. Spectacular waterfalls everywhere outside and lots of detail inside, there is a shop and a cafe. It's Well worth a visit. Villa Hadrian is opposite. We stayed in Rome and took a day trip on our own. We got the tube and train from termini but plan it well as there are no staff to help you at termini unless you queue at customer service for ages. However tivoli is lovely in places but very hilly. If you walk from the station you need to be very fit.

“Special”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 12, 2012 via mobile

Okay, so you don't go for the house, but there's nothing wrong with it.. perfect views over the valley below, for a start; there are some glorious courtyards and rooms - a chapel to die for and an otherwise empty room furnished only with paintings of nudes!
But the gardens are the reason people come here, and for good reason. We were lucky, it was a beautiful, crisp, sunny winter's day and the watery blue sky, mixed with thin smoke rising from the valley made for a special day of photographs of the ponds, fountains and statuary. Of course I'm a little biased because I just got married - if I was being my usual self I would point out that Tivoli itself is less than spectacular, except in its ordinariness, and frankly the drive out is through some pretty ugly country.
But, if you have to see the gardens you have to see them, and if you do you won't be sorry. Provided you like water..
