Easy access nice rooms excellent service. Strongly recommended if you need a cheapish great hotel. 10 minutes from city center. Probably one of the best stays i had. If you need help with anything the staff can fix without delay and very good english for everyone that dont speak italian.

The Hotel Pulitzer is a 4-star hotel located in the Marconi district of Rome. It's only a short walk (about 5min) from the Metro. This links you up with all Rome has to offer - it's only 5 stops from Collosseo. My title alludes to the fact that if you are used to staying in hotels in large cities, this hotel is surprisingly deceptive from the outside. You exit from Marconi station onto a reasonably large and busyd. Turn left and walk up the slightly inclined road and the hotel is on your right after passing a tabacci. They sell pastries, newspapers, the ubiquitous expresso, sodas, sweets and chocolates. The exterior of the hotel is unimpressive, almost lookong like an apartment block from the 80's. Once you walk in, the interior is quite stylish in a typical Italian way. It has a nice bistro and bar, and the reception area. The receptionist was very pleasant and friendly, and check-in smooth. we had a lovely double room with a king-sized bed that was topped with a very comfortable mattress that ensured a good night's sleep after trekking around the sights of ancient Rome. The interior of the rooms were tasteful and stylish. We had a balcony that overlooked the neighbourhood - residential and unimpressive but nice to have for sitting out in the fresh air nonetheless. Beautifully tiled bathroom - I love the minimalist contrasting black mosaic tiling against the white sink and bath . Luxurous fluffy bathrobe and slippers were laid out for us on arrival. However, the treat was the jacuzzi on the rooftop. You could see a lot of Rome from the vantage points on this roof, and then relax on the deck chairs an soak up the sun (depending on time of year) or warm yourself in the bubbling jacuzzi. We didn't really eat in the bistro because we were out all day in central Rome. However the morning breakfast was delicious. There streets further to the left of the hotel are full of little stalls and fruit sellers. There is a large shopping mall Euroma2 which can be easily accessed by taxi or taking the metro and bus. They talk alot about red light area but we didn't see anything of the sort and never felt unsafe in the area. The taxi ride from Ciampino airport is quite scenic once you enter Rome itself and head south to Marconi. If you are looking for a quiet neighbourhood hotel that is comfortable and stylish, then this will fit the bill. If you are looking for a hotel in the centre of the city then this is not the hotel for you obviously.

The Hotel Pulitzer is situated a few minutes away from the Marconi Metro stop and whilst it is a lovely hotel, be warned that the road leading from the Metro to the hotel is actually where "ladies of the night" can be found flashing their wares when it gets dark. We never felt unsafe, but it was a surprise to see this on exiting the station on our first evening in Rome.

We were upgraded to a suite upon arrival, which was fantastic. The junior suite is a generous size, and although we were at the front of the hotel, we weren't disturbed by traffic noise. Overall, it's a clean, modern hotel. It was also easy to get to Fiumicino airport, via taxi, from the hotel when we checked out. Book with reception the night before to get a flat rate deal.

We were booked at the Hotel Pulitzer since it was very near to the Rome University at which our conference was being held, so we had no expectations one way or the other. The hotel was very nicely decorated with original art throughout, and everything was clean and worked well. We really liked the art on all the walls. Bravo! Our room had an ample closet, a safe, a comfortable bed and good wi-fi. The bathroom was nicely appointed, very clean, and everything worked perfectly. European showers are a different experience, to be sure, with the detachable shower head, so be careful!

The hotel had a friendly and helpful staff. There was an excellent breakfast every morning, self serve. A wide variety of high quality breakfast foods to serve every appetite, in my opinion, so we got a good start on every day. Best scrambled eggs I've ever had away from home and great coffee.

. The upstairs restaurant and bar was open from around 5:30 onwards, with dinner being served from about 6:00PM. Reality Alert: In Italy, eating that early isn't what people normally do. Be that as it may, we ate early and were pretty well served considering that the barman had to double as our waiter. The dinner menu was adequate, but not the most memorable food that we had on our trip. My conclusion is that the restaurant is operated as a convenience for patrons who don't want to go out for food. By the way, Dario, the bar manager, was a very nice guy who fixes a very good drink. The weekend guy, not so much.

the location of the hotel is pretty remote from the tourist attractions of Rome, but the Metro Station (Marconi on the B Line, a five minute walk) makes it convenient. It's about a 15 minute ride to the Colosseum and 30 minutes to the Vatican. The neighborhood is a bit gritty, but seemed safe enough, although we weren't out a lot at night. If you want to go out for a nice meal every night, then check in advance via online search to see what's available in the neighborhood.

We were there for six nights, and our experience was very good. The remoteness from the center and the lack of a nearby ATM might be a drawback, but the price was reasonable and the hotel itself was a very good value.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room away from the street, if possible. Our room was on the 3rd floor facing on the...

We stayed here recently on a 2 day break to Rome. We were going to see Morrissey at the Atlantico Stadium on the outskirts and chose the location for its convenience as it was equidistant between the city and the stadium. We knew in advance from reading other write ups that the hotel was in a red light area. The girls were all there and just as described but it didn't feel dangerous. Just not a particularly nice area if you were planning on a longer stay or wanted a scenic or romantic location. The bus stop was right outside the hotel and the metro only a few minutes walk away so that was a plus point.
We saw the hotel advertised on Secret Escapes and discount sites but chose to book direct with the hotel as I have learned over the years that this is the way to get the best rooms and better service..... or so I thought. The booking went smoothly and we ordered a superior room as the website led us to believe from the photos that we would have nice extras like comfy outdoor furniture on the patio and sofas. We also booked a driver to collect us from the airport for E50. So all looked very promising.
We arrived at 9pm and the driver rang to say he was running late. There were plenty of taxis outside who charged a flat fee of E30. But we waited and he came after half an hour. This initially didn't bother us. So we arrived at the hotel. Lobby stank of cigarette smoke and the woman on the desk checked us in and gave us our key. When we arrived in the room it was not at all what I was expecting. Ordinary plastic chairs on the balcony and when we arrived home, I checked the website and the room looked exactly the same as the standard room in the photo. But we were tired and hungry so we went in search of the bar. The barman was very formal and told us there was no food available as the chef had just left. What about room service ? It was advertised as 24 hour. No he said. Absolutely no food. Well if the driver had arrived on time, we would have made the deadline. With no other places to eat in the area, we were forced to eat the nuts on the bar, have a few drinks and go to bed.
The following day we went out early and in our return, got ready for the concert. I went to plug in the kettle and the socket came out of the wall. I switched on the shower and the water shot everywhere as the shower head was just dangling from the holder. That explained the water marks all over the pictures on the walls. I was soaked from head to foot and had to dry my hair again. The room smelt musty and as if it had not been cleaned properly and the sink smelled of drains as the design of it meant that it couldn't be cleaned properly. The plus side was that the beds were comfy and the sheets were cleanly laundered.
After the concert we got back to the hotel and asked the man at the front desk if there was food. He said the chef had gone home but we could get frozen food in our rooms. I asked if that was every night, he replied yes !!!! So we went to the bar and asked the barman if we could have food. Non available he said. Not even room service ? No he said. So we told him that we had been told by the front desk that we could have food in our rooms. He just shrugged. I was so fed up with the attitude that we just went off to bed again. The walls were paper thin and other guests kept us awake shouting. We checked out the following morning.
On my return home, I checked all the emails and website and spoke to the hotel. They assured me that we did have a superior room as it is based on size not decor. So please bear this in mind when booking with them. They offered us a 20% discount off our next booking but they would have to pay me to stay there again. They were adamant that nothing else could be done. Thank heavens we only had to stop there for 2 nights.

My wife and I stayed at the Pulitzer Hotel for 4 nights. The rooms were great and have a large bathroom. The staff were helpful and courteous and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was plentiful with a good selection of choices. The hotel is close to the Marconi Metro station on the blue line and a few stops from the colosseum and the main areas of Rome . The bar area and lobby are well proportioned and the garden is bathed in sunshine most of the day.

Room Tip: The upper floors offer good view of the Sunset over Rome.

I stayed at this hotel because it was within walking distance of the university Roma Tre where I had to work. I had a good price with breakfast included, which was nice. On the plus side, the breakfast was excellent. The room was clean with a comfortable bed, nice toiletries, and free wifi. The hotel staff was also friendly and helpful, On the more negative side, the room had a view from a high barred window that would have been perfect for a high-class penitentiary and only had a shower. The hotel also seemed to be a little out of the way. I saw it advertised as being in the middle of the financial district. Perhaps I looked in the wrong place, but I did not see anything that corresponded to a business district near the hotel. On the first night, it was necessary to walk a fairly long ways in order to find something resembling a decent restaurant, and on the walk back (22:00), there were "ladies of the night" in mini-shorts and platform heels on each corner. To get anywhere, it was necessary to get the Marconi subway to the Colosseum or Termini. So, even though the hotel was not a bad experience, the next time I go to Rome, I will stay somewhere in the city.
